Thomas Tuchel has no doubt that Mason Mount can make it at Manchester United.
The German has been linked with a move to United once again as the pressure cranks up on Erik ten Hag. The former Ajax boss remains in charge at Old Trafford, but could see his tenure brought to an end, with club chiefs set to hold a crisis summit over his position.
Tuchel has been touted as a potential replacement. And should the ex- Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss complete a move, it would see him reunited with Mount, having previously managed the midfielder at Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel was a huge fan of the Chelsea academy graduate and regularly praised him for his positive outlook. Speaking during his time as Blues boss, he said: "It's not a statistic which guarantees you to start because this would be too easy.
“But it is something we are aware of and we will not deny that having Mason brings a certain attitude and an aura and a mentality on the field. It is very hard to drop him because even if he has a not so good game, you'll always get full energy and positivity and a wonderful approach."
It was not the first time that Tuchel had hailed Mount’s approach to work. He added: “He has the full package, mentally, in terms of talent and physically and the most important part is his character, he has his feet on the ground and he’s a nice guy.
“He comes to Cobham every day to learn something new and have new experiences. He is the guy who can recover very fast, he’s a very physical player and is fully adapted to PL football. He has big self confidence in a very, very positive way.

“It’s a pleasure to have him, be at his side and guide him and support him. It’s impressive, he’s not affected by all the praise. This is maybe the most important part. He seems to be a guy who likes the sport, and feels an obligation to make the most out of it and he wants it absolutely badly, so it’s a top mix”
Mount, 26, enjoyed a hugely positive period under Tuchel. He made 87 appearances under the German, scoring on 19 occasions.
The pair also helped Chelsea to their second Champions League crown. Mount has not been able to enjoy that sort of fortune with the Red Devils. The midfielder has made just 25 appearances for United and scored only once since his £55m move from his boyhood club.
