Anyone looking to buy a tablet will know that upgrading to a new device isn't cheap, especially if they have Apple's newest iPad Pro range on their wishlist. However, the recent launch means that older models are a lot more affordable, with the latest deal from Sky proving it.

As the 2024 Apple iPad Pro and iPad Air models catch tech fans' attention, launching from £599 each, retailers have started to drop the prices of the now older models, like the 10th Gen iPad model. It may be a step away from the swanky 'Thinpossible' models but shoppers can get their hands on the older model for a strikingly more affordable price, as The Express highlights.

At £11 per month, the lower price may convince you to add the 10th Gen iPad to your online shopping basket, bundled in with an inclusive 100MB of data. There's no upfront cost either, so you won't need a pocket full of cash to unlock the cheaper pay-monthly deal.

Despite being older the model still comes with a host of eye-catching features, all of which are supported by its speedy A14 processor. There's a bright 10.9-inch Retina display, compatibility with smart accessories including the Apple Pencil, and 64GB of storage.

However there is a catch for shoppers who want to lock in the more affordable £11 per month price, and that's the fact that the contract will cost more money in the long run than buying the model outright. At the moment Apple currently sells the device for £349 (thanks to a £150 price drop) but the Sky deal comes to £528 in total.

Sky is notorious for having longer contracts and shoppers will have to lock into four years of paying £11 per month on the 48-month contract. It's easy to confuse the contract for being 36 months long, however, this is only to highlight to shoppers that they can switch their device after that length, the payments have to continue until the 48-month mark.

As our Tech Editor, Dave Snelling points out, the more expensive cost will still be worthwhile for a lot of shoppers. He said: "So, you will pay just £29 more by going with Sky over the contract, but that gets you 100MB of monthly data. You also won't have to pay any big upfront fees which does make it feel a lot more affordable."

Shoppers looking to buy the 2022 10th Gen iPad upfront, without any contract, can head to either John Lewis and Amazon where both retailers are selling it for £349. Alternatively Samsung has just cut the price of its iPad-rivalling Tab S8+ which shoppers can buy for £300 less with the code SAMSUNGTABS8 at checkout.
