Checking in at Manchester's Kimpton Clocktower is an experience in itself. Just as you walk into the venue you're greeted with a florist, before entering the stunning Victorian-era lobby, topped with a glass dome.
It means that before you even get to your room, you'll be itching for some glamorous snaps for your Instagram.
After checking in, you'll be directed which way to go for the room, and with the hotel made up of three different buildings you should be sure to follow the instructions or you may find yourself lost and wandering.
Located on Oxford Road, just a stone's throw from Oxford Road station and across the road from the Palace Theatre, the Kimpton is in a prime location for those looking to make the most of their time in Manchester.
The hotel offers a number of unique services that guests can make use of during their stay, one of which is their music concierge. When booking a room, you can request that a record player be added alongside any records of your choice. One of the hotel staff told me that many couples celebrating their wedding anniversary make use of this feature, requesting songs they played during their wedding.
Another rather unique feature of the Kimpton is their collaboration with retailer Anthropologie, with the hotel offering a range of seasonal accessories from the brand that you can borrow at no extra cost. So if you've forgotten to pack a clutch for your night out, or a belt to complete your outfit, the hotel can provide you with one for the duration of your stay.
The hotel has recently opened the new Suite No.51, which while truly stunning is perhaps out of most guests' price range. On a tour of one of these new suites, a member of hotel staff suggested that the adjoining room could be used for security for any VIP guests.
But while these rooms may be quite pricey, there are plenty of cheaper options that make for an affordable stay in the heart of Manchester city centre.
Made up of three former industrial buildings, the Kimpton Clocktower has hundreds of rooms available. The room in which I stayed was one in the main Clocktower building, and although it perhaps didn't have the best view (looking out over the Oxford Road station) the comfort of the room certainly made up for this.
When staying at the Kimpton, a visit to their restaurant the Refuge is a must, with unique cocktails and tapas-style dishes, the delicious offerings are perfect for any type of stay.
With plenty of locally-sourced food available, the chefs at Refuge perfectly meld food from around the world with a unique Mancunian style and taste. The menu's highlights include the Buffalo mozzarella caprese, beetroot borani, and some truly delicious hummus.
All in all the hotel is a wonderful slice of luxury in the middle of Manchester's bustling city centre, with a range of unique options that will make your stay at the Kimpton Clocktower perfect for whatever brings you to the city.
The new suite starts from £1.2k and standard bedrooms start from double rooms from £189 year-round (breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi).
