Michael McIntyre has reportedly been hit with a setback as his popular weekend game show The Wheel has been dropped from the BBC's Christmas Day schedule.
The programme, which usually broadcasts on Saturdays and sees contestants vying for cash prizes with the assistance of seven celebrities, will not feature in the BBC's festive lineup this year.
The final instalment of the current series is set to air sometime in December, but it's yet to be confirmed whether it will be a regular episode or a special celebrity edition, as per TV Zone.
It wasn't long before people took to social media to share their thoughts on the beloved game show not airing this Christmas. One person said: "I completely agree. I'm so annoyed by this as The Wheel has been one of the highlights of Christmas TV over the last few years. #TheWheel"
Another commented: "Very disappointing. The Wheel is usually one of my highlights over Christmas." With someone else adding: "The only disappointment is that they have stupidly taken The Wheel off over Christmas. One of the best shows over the festive period won't even be on this year."
In contrast, the BBC has unveiled an exciting Christmas schedule, including returning favourites such as Gavin and Stacey, Mrs. Brown's Boys, a fresh Wallace and Gromit film and a celebrity version of Gladiators.
While specifics about the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special are still under wraps, the show is anticipated to resume five years after Nessa's (Ruth Jones) proposal to Smithy (James Corden) in the 2019 special, reports the Express.
A new cast photo has been released, featuring Mathew Horne and Joanna Page reprising their roles as Gavin and Stacey, along with Corden and Jones.
Viewers can also look forward to Wallace and Gromit's Vengeance Most Fowl, marking the first new film from the pair since 2008's A Matter of Loaf and Death, as well as the comeback of Mrs. Brown's Boys.
Despite being panned by many critics, Mrs Brown's Boys, a staple of the festive schedules and one of the most-watched holiday programmes, returns with two specials for both Christmas and New Year.
The series, featuring the talents of Irish funnyman Brendan O'Carroll as the larger-than-life Agnes Brown, first hit screens on BBC One back in 2011.
Charlotte Moore, BBCs top boss for content, declared: "No one does Christmas quite like the BBC, and this year we have raised the bar even higher with a cracking line-up that will bring people together across the UK."
She further expressed her enthusiasm: "I'm incredibly excited to be showcasing the finest British creativity and welcoming back some of the nation's favourite characters in the last ever episode of Gavin And Stacey and the premiere of Wallace And Gromit's new feature-length adventure."
The Mirror have contacted the BBC for comment.
The Wheel is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
