I'm A Celebrity fans were hit with a double eviction during last night's show as Maura Higgins and Barry McGuigan became the latest stars to leave the camp. While viewers were sad to see them go, their friends and family were pleased to see them arrive at the Gold Coast hotel, where they were given a hero's welcome.
It wasn't just the pair's nearest and dearest who showed up to support Maura and Barry - campmate Danny Jones' wife Georgia showed up to greet the latest evictees. The former Miss England joined the welcome party for Maura and Barry with her and Danny's son Cooper, six, in tow.
Love Island's Maura looked overjoyed to be arriving at the Marriott hotel, where she embraced campmate and second evictee Dean McCullough in a big hug. Barry enjoyed an equally warm welcome, with Melvin Odoom - who was the fourth star to be booted off the show - giving him a huge hug.
The Radio 1 DJ jumped on Barry and wrapped his legs around him as the pair laughed together. Loose Women's Jane Moore, who was the first celebrity to leave the show, was part of the stars' welcome party alongside Danny's mum Kathy and GK Barry's friend Hannah.
The double elimination left fans 'fuming' as viewers took to social media to comment. One wrote: "MAURA SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FINAL 4 NOBODY SPEAK TO ME #ImACeleb." A second said: "The English voting the only two Irish out. #imaceleb."
"I genuinely thought Maura was a potential winner #ImACeleb," a third penned. Another added: "British public. Why vote Maura I’m appalled #ImACeleb." Another raged: "WHO THE F**K VOTED MAURA OUT. FUMING."
Barry won a new legion of fans whilst in the jungle, where he candidly opened up about the tragic death of his daughter Danika. Danika, who was an actress, died aged 33 just five weeks after being diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2019.
The boxing legend broke down in tears on Friday's episode of Good Morning Britain, where he appeared via video link. Speaking about his daughter's death, Barry said: "It’s the single most devastating thing that’s happened to me. Losing my daughter was dreadful. I never recovered from it. It’s important I do chat about it.
"I know she’s there somewhere. Her life was so sad, the most important time in her life when things were looking great, she got cancer and died."
I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
