Former King of the Jungle Sam Thompson has revealed the dirty behind-the-scenes details of I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! including cleaning the toilet. During the spin-off show, I'm A Celebrity Unpacked, Sam joined Joel Dommett and radio host Kemi Rodgers to reveal the secrets of camp life.

Eager to get the insider information, Kemi asked: "How gross is the dunny really, without grossing us out and everyone who's watching talk us through it." Comedian Joel, who was runner-up in the 2016 series told her “it’s quite gross”. But it was Sam who went into more detail about the ins and outs of what cleaning the dunny is really like.

Sam told Kemi: "You get used to it but the first time, he is right, people freeze up for the first few days but then when it all lets loose it gets real heavy real fast!" Laughing about the toilet talk, Joel added: "You don't want to be emptying the dunny on day four."

Sam continued: "Well, you have 12 campmates in there at one point and you have to unscrew the lid so you have to look, I'm sorry this is a bit graphic, but you have to look Kemi at everything in there, and you wouldn't believe the waste that come out."

When Kemi asked about the daily waste levels, Sam grossly confirmed it gets "nearly to the brim". Joel recounted his jungle dunny experiences, remarking: "You've got to take a peep, because you're like 'I think that's Carol Vorderman's'". Sam chimed in with: "The wild thing is you know who went last as well because they'll come back from the dunny."

Coronation Street's Colson Smith then asked whether there was a lock on the door. Sam explained that there was just a “cloth” rather than an actual door. Sam revealed the trick to letting someone know they were in the dunny was to shout “taken” when they thought someone was approaching. Meanwhile Joel said in his series eight years ago, that him and his fellow celeb contestant would lay a log outside the door as if they were marking it as “engaged”.

Colson compared their experience to his in Big Brother earlier this year where the doors also didn’t lock so he revealed that he’d “take all my clothes off” and “put them outside the door” so people would know he was in there.
