Coronation Street viewers are speculating a dark departure for the show's Craig Tinker, with Kit Green at the centre of the potential storyline.
Craig, portrayed by Colson Smith, has been a staple on the iconic cobbles since his arrival as a 12 year old in 2011. Over the years, he's captured the hearts of viewers and been central to numerous major plots.
His journey has seen him don the police uniform, face heartache, and undergo an incredible transformation, ensuring that Craig's tenure in Weatherfield has been anything but dull.
This week, however, Colson Smith confirmed his departure from the long-running series after an impressive 14-year stint. He took to social media, posting on X and Instagram with a photo of himself in character, to share the announcement.
"Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker's time on the Cobbles is to come to an end in 2025. I've loved every single second of my 14-year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world," he shared, reports Lancs Live.
Colson added: "I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. I've learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I'm excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy."
With the revelation of Craig's impending exit, fans are piecing together clues and theorising that his storyline will intertwine with the corrupt Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts.
Kit Henson, played by actor Max Hawley, made a dramatic entrance on the show last year as Bernie's long-lost son, and it didn't take him long to create a stir, revealing his 'true' nature to viewers. He forced Beth Tinker, Craig's mother, out of Weatherfield and proved himself to be a corrupt police officer, often bending the law to suit his own needs.
Fans of the show are now convinced that Kit will play a significant role in Craig's upcoming departure, with some speculating that he may even be responsible for his colleague's demise.
One fan expressed their thoughts on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page: "I'm sad that they have got rid of Craig. I've got a feeling he might start investigating Kit and Kit Kills him or gets him sacked." Another fan shared a similar theory: "Think he will try and expose Kit and Kit kills him! ".
A third fan wondered if Craig's exit might be linked to his attempts to bring Kit down, suggesting that he may either die or be forced to move away after exposing Kit's corruption. A fellow viewer agreed, stating: "It'll probably be Kit that gets rid of him- somehow!"
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
