It may be the Easter holidays. But that doesn’t mean that there are new roadworks starting in Plymouth.
There are 24 new roadworks schemes which are getting under way in Plymouth this week. These are in addition to the existing schemes which are already taking place across the city.
On Plymouth Road, heading outbound, for the next three days, there will be alternating lane closures between Woodford Avenue and Larkham Lane, 9.30am to 3pm. This is for signage works to be carried out. And from Friday, until next Wednesday, heading inbound, one lane will be closed from Lidl to just past Cot Hill junction, 9.30am to 3pm.

Then from Wednesday, for the next three night, there will also be three-way traffic lights on Plymouth Road. These will be in place at the Dingle Road junction, between 7pm and 6am, and for safety camera works to be carried out.
Then from Thursday, until next Wednesday, Staddiscombe Road will be closed between Bovisand Road and number 49, 24 hours a day. This is for South West Water carrying out water mains works.
Plymouth City Council has helpfully put out a list of roadworks that will be taking place across the city over the next week. The council is responsible for coordinating works carried out by utility companies, developers and other organisations as well as their own repair, maintenance and improvement works.
They maintain all public roads in Plymouth except the A38, which is managed by National Highways on behalf of the Department for Transport.
“We know there's no good time to close roads, especially on busy routes and we do everything we can to co-ordinate planned works and minimise their impact on our transport network,” a City Council spokesman said.
