Google also pushing Marshmallow OTA updates to Android One devices

Google yesterday announced that Android Marshmallow is coming over-the-air to Nexus devices in the coming days and weeks, but now we have confirmation that Google is also pushing the update to Android One devices. Google promised when it launched the Android One program that these phones would get update priority and offer the latest and greatest much like Nexus phones, and it looks like the company is delivering on that promise…

If you have an Android One phone, you’ll probably see the update pop up over the next few days. If you would like to see if you can get the update a little early, though, some users on the XDA-Developers community have begun sharing links to OTA files for some devices. One thread in particular appears to include a download link for the Micromax Canvas A1, which updates the device from build LMY48M to MRA58M. We’ll be on the look-out for others.

If you own a Nexus device, you have a few options. The easiest option is to just sit around and wait for the update to hit your device. Alternatively, you can head over to our developing list of Nexus OTA .zip update files, download the correct one for your device, and follow our guide on how to install them.

If the OTA update for your device isn’t available or you would rather just flash Marshmallow completely fresh, you can install a factory image on your Nexus device. To do this, head over to our Android 6.0 Marshmallow factory image page, download the one for your device, and follow our guide.

Those with Android One devices can follow these guides with similar success, but since Android One devices aren’t available in the states, it will probably be much harder to locate the correct files. Your best chance would probably be to follow the Android One forums sections at XDA-Developers, including various threads following specific devices like this one and this one.

Good luck!
