It was a pleasure working on such a meaningful project with Youth4Sustainability. The Code4Climate Hackathon was a fantastic experience, and we are proud to have contributed to empowering the next generation of sustainability leaders. We look forward to future collaborations and continuing to foster innovation and development within our community!
Youth4Sustainability (Y4S), a Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) initiative, organized a memorable in-person edition of the Code4Climate (C4C) Hackathon: a 2-day program, delivered from May 11-12, 2024, carefully designed for youth, which integrated coding, app development, and sustainability! Aligned with Y4S' vision to empower the next generation of sustainability leaders, the Code4Climate Hackathon aimed to introduce Y4S Sustainability Ambassadors members to a hands-on experience in developing soft and tech skills by integrating mobile applications enabled with AI, addressing SDGs 8 and 13. During this experience, 26 talented high school students, with the support of 7 trainers, could code AI-enabled mobile applications, identifying existing skill gaps in the green economy and effectively matching youth with training and job opportunities in emerging sustainability and climate-related sectors. On behalf of Y4S, I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone involved for their dedication and hard work in fostering innovation within our community. To Anas BaChar - أنس بشار, Ariana Bermúdez, and Tara Al Marzooqi for delivering such insightful expert talks to our youth; as well as to Anas BaChar - أنس بشار, Ariana Bermúdez, and Ara Fernezian for joining the C4C jury panel.
