Pioneering Work on the Other Side of the World: First HUBER Global Service Consultant Tour in New Zealand 🌏 Where "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" was filmed, our service consultant did important work on wastewater treatment plants: Our long-time service consultant Martin Burger, together with colleagues from Hydroflux, embarked on HUBER's first-ever Service Consultant Tour to New Zealand – a remarkable journey and a significant milestone for us. Despite the 12-hour time difference and a 22-hour flight, the team successfully navigated the challenges and provided on-site support at several wastewater treatment plants across the North Island. Their goal: to offer expert advice, enhance local knowledge, and strengthen our partnerships. Here’s a brief look at the tour's highlights: 🌋 Taupo Region: Visits to Taumarunui, Whakapapa (at the foot of the active Ruapehu volcano), Ohakune, and Motuoapa wastewater treatment plants. Kerikeri Region: Further visits to the Kaihoe, Rawene, Whatuwhiwhi, and Kaitaia treatment plants. 🚽 Cultural Stop: The iconic "Hundertwasser toilet" in Kawakawa, designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The final day in Auckland included a fruitful meeting with Hydroflux Pty Ltd/Hydroflux NZ colleagues and a digital training session for the local team. The tour not only provided valuable technical support but also reinforced the importance of strong partnerships, like the one between HUBER and Hydroflux. The feedback from our customers was overwhelmingly positive, confirming that our approach to long-term relationship-building is on the right path. Successful Kick-off for the Year 2025 at HUBER USA! 🚀 This week we held a production kick-off meeting at our subsidiary HUBER USA in Denver, North Carolina. The US is one of our most important markets and we are continuing to grow here as well.   Chief Technical and Production Officer Dr. Oliver Rong, Director of Production Thomas Sellerer and Inter-Company Operations Manager Patrick Plank traveled from our Headquarters in Berching across the Atlantic to the US East Coast to meet the President of HUBER US Henk-Jan van Ettekoven, Director of Manufacturing Bobby Sexton, and the whole production team. 200 New Workplaces: Groundbreaking Ceremony for Our New Office Building 🏗️ Today we gave the starting signal for the construction of a new office building: Bavaria's Minister President Dr. Markus Söder came to break ground at our headquarters in Berching. Söder was joined by Bavarian Finance and Home Affairs Minister Albert Füracker, Member of the Bundestag Susanne Hierl and other political representatives, which underlines the importance of this project for us and the region. Around 200 new workplaces and a new canteen for employees will be created on a total of four floors. Dr. Markus Söder: "HUBER is investing almost 20 million euros in a new office building and creating around 200 modern workplaces. This is a strong commitment to the region and the district of Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. What has characterized this company for decades is its belief and trust in its own innovative strength. Successful Factory Acceptance Test of 3 HUBER Disc Filters RoDisc® for Mumbai's Bhandup Jindal Wastewater Treatment Plant (India) 🌊 We proudly completed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for 3 HUBER Disc Filters RoDisc® at our Berching headquarters. This marks the largest HUBER RoDisc® order ever from India and an important milestone for us!   The FAT was attended by representatives from JWIL INFRA LIMITED (our end customer and leading water management contractor in India), responsible engineers from the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, and a consulting partner.   After a warm welcome by HUBER Sales Director Franz Heindl, followed by a company presentation and a review of project documentation, our guests got a tour of the HUBER production facility. 6 HUBER Coarse Screens TrashMax® For Best Flood Protection in Houston, TX 🌊 In 2017, Hurricane Harvey left the Texas Gulf Coast in devastated state. Houston, in particular, was hit by unprecedented flooding, despite the existing retention basins and dams. Since then, efforts have been made to better protect the region from such natural disasters. A significant step has been made, where the pumping capacity of the drainage system has been increased by 400 %. An outstanding example of this progress is the André D. McDonald Pumping Station in Fort Bend, Texas. It is the largest of its kind in the state. This pump station plays a crucial role in preventing future “century floods” and ensuring the region’s safety. At HUBER, we are proud to contribute to this protection. Working closely with engineering consultants and plant constructors, we have supplied six HUBER Coarse Screens TrashMax® for the pumping station. These machines ensure the downstream pumps are protected from any contamination caused by runoff and debris, thanks to their advanced screening technology. Groundbreaking of the Aquafin Mega Project: CO₂-Neutral Sludge Drying Plants in Beringen and Roeselare ♻️ We are thrilled to announce the groundbreaking of the Aquafin project in Belgium, which involves the construction of CO₂-neutral sludge drying systems in Beringen and Roeselare. This will tremendously improve sludge management while reducing environmental impact – paving the way for more sustainable solutions in sludge and wastewater management. This project has an investment volume of more than 110 million euros and plays an important role in realizing Aquafin's goal of eliminating fossil fuels from the sludge treatment process. As part of this major project, we are contributing with 5 HUBER Belt Dryers BT, designed for the thermal treatment of over 120,000 tons of sewage sludge per year. These state-of-the-art dryers will not only enhance energy efficiency but also significantly reduce CO₂ emissions by utilizing innovative, energy-saving technologies. The new facilities will play a crucial role in transforming sludge treatment processes by enabling a more circular approach, reducing waste, and generating valuable resources from sewage sludge. "A Fantastic Experience that Has Helped Me Professionally and as a Person": Alexander Wagner's Second Stay Abroad at HUBER Technology Inc. in Denver, North Carolina 🇩🇪✈️🇺🇸 Our 100% independent production facility in the US has now been in operation for over a year! To ensure optimal operation, we also exchange know-how between our company headquarters in Berching and our US subsidiary. Alexander Wagner, Designer in our Technical Operations Department, traveled across the Atlantic in October 2024 to support the team at HUBER Technology Inc. for nine weeks. It was his second international assignment in the US after his first stay in 2019 at the former site in Huntersville. This excerpt from his travel report provides interesting personal insights: "In October 2024, I traveled to the Denver, North Carolina location for nine weeks. It was fascinating to see the development and rapid growth of HUBER US with my own eyes, especially as I could compare the new location with Huntersville. Even then, the trip was an exciting experience – but what awaited me this time in the USA was even more impressive. The new site is a reflection of the company's success: the office space and production capacity have been significantly increased and it is clear that the company is investing heavily in the future. The team has also expanded enormously, both in terms of numbers and expertise. Many new colleagues from different areas have joined the company and it was impressive to see how everything is growing together. I was warmly welcomed by my colleagues, immediately integrated into the design team and was able to actively contribute to the success of the projects. I would especially like to thank Keith Nagelski (Director of Design) and Zach Swez (Detail Design Team Leader), who quickly showed me the differences between HUBER SE and HUBER US and actively supported me at all times when anything was unclear. There was just a great team dynamic, which made the work even more enjoyable. The time flew by and I was able to learn so much, both professionally and in terms of working methods and international exchange within HUBER. Even though my stay is now over, there will be opportunities to continue supporting the US colleagues in the future, either from Germany or through further trips to the USA. All in all, it was a fantastic experience that helped me grow professionally and personally.
