𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙉𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙅𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙎𝘿𝙂𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 – 17 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙂𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩. We are thrilled to announce that the Netherlands is the 14th country to join the "SDGs through Arts" initiative, reinforcing the power of creativity in driving meaningful change. This global movement unites artists from around the world to raise awareness of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through art, culture, and innovation. Seventeen artists from the Netherlands have been selected to represent each of the 17 SDGs, using their unique artistic expressions to inspire, educate, and spark conversations about sustainability, social justice, and a better future for all. Their works will highlight critical issues such as climate action, gender equality, quality education, and responsible consumption, demonstrating how art can be a catalyst for transformation. RIP Ismet Ganti. A legendary artist, a shining star in the Mauritian art scene. Your legacy will live on through your work dear artist. You will be deeply missed 🙏 Ismet Ganti was a versatile and self-taught Mauritian artist whose contributions to contemporary art have left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Mauritius and beyond. Active since the 1970s, he was not just a painter, but also an affichiste, musician, and writer, blending multiple disciplines to express his unique views on life, society, and the human experience. His work, vibrant with energy and curiosity, explored both the light and dark aspects of existence, reflecting his profound understanding of joy, sorrow, and everything in between. Over his career, Ganti held around 30 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions internationally, including in France, Japan, the UK, Germany, and the Seychelles. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, he continued to create with renewed passion, producing a new collection of paintings and collages. Known for his unbridled creativity and hunger for life, Ganti was one of Mauritius' most influential contemporary artists, inspiring generations with his work and dedication. His passing today marks the end of an era and his name will remain an important one in the History of Art of Mauritius. his legacy will continue to inspire and resonate through his artistic contributions. Today marks the 50th anniversary of Umm Kulthum's passing. In her honor, Egypt has declared 2025 as the Year of Umm Kulthum. Born on December 31, 1898, and passing on February 3, 1975. She was an iconic Egyptian singer, songwriter, and film actress, active from the 1920s to the 1970s. Known as Kawkab el-Sharq (Arabic: كوكب الشرق), or the "Star of the East," she remains a national treasure in Egypt and a beloved figure across the Middle East and beyond.
