About us
My Forest Armenia is a Non-Profit Organization aiming at mitigating global warming and restoring biodiversity. Our goal is to PLANT 400.000 trees or about 200 hectares of new forest every year within dedicated afforestation areas in Armenia. Our local team of forest ecologists and planters work year-round securing new plant areas, growing seedlings in nurseries, fencing the afforestation land, planting trees, and maintaining the young trees within our newly created forests. We are looking for companies willing to join us by FUNDING the important task we have taken upon us. Please, contact us if you want to become part of this amazing journey. Together we will plant a large number of 'Trees for Life'.

Diversity is key in our #reforestation efforts. While monoculture plantations may seem efficient, mixed-species forests offer far greater ecological benefits. The more diverse ecosystems are, the more resilient they become to pests, diseases, and climate change. Additionally, mixed forests support a wider array of #wildlife, providing varied habitats and food sources. They also enhance soil health through diverse root systems and leaf litter. This improved soil structure increases water retention and reduces erosion. Our goal is to plant as many hectares as possible, yet we want them to be as rich as possible in order to have long-lasting results.

Autumn is a crucial time for #reforestation efforts, offering a brief window for planting. During this period, lasting just a few weeks, seedlings enter dormancy as temperatures cool and daylight hours decrease. This dormant state allows trees to be transplanted with minimal stress. At the same time, the ground in our reforestation areas, which range from 1700m to 2200m atlitude, starts freezing earlier than in lower areas, and it becomes impossible to plant sometimes in mid-November already, leaving us only around 15-20 days to plant the open-root seedlings.

This past weekend we had two seed collection events, one with the team of Synopsys Armenia, and the second one with Ardshinbank. Together, they collected 212kg of acorns! This will represent about 24,000 oak seedlings next spring. Needless to say, we are also actively collecting seeds from villagers in different regions. Thank you to the volunteers from Synopsys and Ardshinbank!

This is how the seedlings that were sown in Spring in our greenhouse look now. They’re tall enough to be planted in our #reforestation area very soon.

The countdown to planting season is on! Our shovels are ready in the storage room as our team prepares for a productive fall. Our appreciation goes to the people who will dig thousands of holes and plant each seedling by hand on steep, high-altitude mountains. Show your support to our local workers and donate today! It will help them with more income and it will plant more trees!
