History of Sellier & Bellot Ammo

Established in 1825, Sellier & Bellot is one of the oldest continuously operating ammunition companies in the world. Based in the Czech Republic, S&B is renowned for its high-quality ammo, serving both military and civilian markets. The brand is now owned by CBC, which also manages the Magtech ammunition brand.

The Beginnings of Sellier & Bellot

Louis Sellier and Jean Maria Bellot partnered to revolutionize ammunition production in the early 19th century. Their innovative process allowed for mass production of percussion caps, lowering ammunition costs and setting a new standard for quality. By the mid-1800s, Sellier & Bellot was one of the largest ammunition manufacturers in Europe, producing millions of primers annually.

Expanding into Modern Ammunition

S&B introduced rimfire and centerfire cartridges in the late 19th century, eventually adding a wide range of military and hunting ammunition. During WWI and WWII, the company shifted focus to supply military-grade ammunition. Post-war, they expanded commercial lines to include over 85 different cartridges for pistols, rifles, and shotguns.

This ammo is great stuff. I started with S&B in a Glock 17 and now exclusively in my Walther PDP. Runs clean & always goes ker-bang. I know it is made off-shore but it is good stuff it is no more expensive than others. To me it is the best bang for the buck! (see what I did there)

It arrived quick and the 300 rounds I've shot so far have been smooth and uniform. No complaints here, except that the ammo shoots a little dirty, but it's nothing some CLP and elbow grease won't clear up.

2000 rounds through a Walther PDP without a single glitch. Seems as clean as Blazer Brass and as reliable. Very tight packaging makes for easier storage/transport, and the bullets are nice and shiny to boot.

Shot this at the range in Glock 19 Gen 5 since it was the only ammo I could find a year ago. Out of 50 rounds I had zero jams and it is much easier to load in a magazine. On top of that, I didn't even need to clean the gun really, it shoots smooth and pretty clean. I love it so much I bought a few more boxes.

I purchased 5 boxes of S&B .45 ACP 230 grain. Out of the 5 boxes at least one box of 50 were misfires. Primers were hit, did not fire! Contacted S&B about the issue, nothing was done about it. Rounds were fired through my Smith and Wesson 1911 PC which is always on point with other brands of ammo.

We use these to qualify our department so we go through hundreds of rounds. This stuff barely dirty's the gun and has not misfired or jammed yet.

This Ammo is appropriate for practice, it has enough performance to approach the 10MM potential for serious work ( 200 gr @ 1200fps). The claimed 180gr @ 1163fps from this brand is reasonable!

Went through my first 1500 rds of S&B 180 FMJ, Zero failures and 25 yard groups of ragged 1.5-1.75 inches! Not even interested in loading 10mm with this ammo available and at the BEST price of any 10mm ammo! PS, all ammo was through a Ruger 1911 factory built pistol. Have another 3000 to go through, love this stuff!

I recently bought a Ruger 10mm, 1911, and tried a box or two of S&B 10 mm, 180 Gr FMJ ammo. This Ammunition is amazing, One inch ragged hole groups at 25 yards all day long with the Ruger 10 mm. I am part way through my first 1000 rd case and will order another, the price is good, the quality excellent and the accuracy outstanding! S&B beat all other competitors ammo for accuracy and function.
