History of Bulk 223 Ammo

In 1962, the .223 Remington was officially recommended by SAAMI, leading to its adoption by the U.S. Army in 1964 as the 5.56x45mm NATO, used in M-16 rifles during the Vietnam War. That same year, Remington Arms released the first civilian .223 Rem sporting rifle. The .223 quickly surpassed the popularity of the .222 Remington, and today, the AR-15 is the quintessential American rifle, with many manufacturers producing variations chambered in .223 Rem for both bolt-action and AR-style semi-automatics.

How will your 223 Rem ammo be delivered?

How much does bulk 223 cost?

Bulk .223 generally costs around 50¢ per round, depending on the brand you purchase and the quantity you order. Regardless, purchasing ammo in bulk will save you more money than if you were to purchase in smaller batches each time the need arises. Shooting can become expensive, but you need to keep your marksmanship skills sharp to defend yourself, your home, family, or freedom. Federal manufactured XM193BL is pretty much a GOLD STANDARD round and it’s quality is well known. But my review is related to AMMO.COM and I just cannot say thank you enough! Virtually unbeatable price coupled with a commitment to helping veterans and gun advocates... and I got my order in less than 72 hours. Great Job! AMMO.COM is. Ow my first stop for all Caliber needs.

  • Alex said:

    Good quality

  • JC said:

I have a Colt which is can be picky on ammo. I have never had a jam with this Federal 223 ammo. ammon.net was fast and great to work with. my only complaint is the current prices everywhere right now.

  • Hooter said:

Ammo is great shooting, clean, no problems. Shipping on time and great service. The recent worldwide increase in ammo prices are ridiculous. Not a lot you can do about it, though

  • james said:

ammo shot fine, fast service great prices

  • Stricky323 said:

Great ammo. No issues while shooting. Good price. Highly recommend.

  • Brian said:

Great ammo for weekend shooting, good price and fast shipping

  • Sandy said:

The ammo arrived on my birthday and it was the highlight of my day. My order was filled and sent to me so fast I was pleasantly surprised. The cartridges are of the highest quality, not musty surplus like some folks are selling. Very happy, thank you.

  • Retired Sarge said:

My first time using the rifle I used this ammo. On a 10 inch dirty bird target I was able to land consistent groupings .I was able to land 59 out of 60 rounds in the 9 ring or better. The order was shipped and I received it on the third day. Service is excellent.

  • stan said:

very happy ,with the ammo, no jam ups, carb build up is minor -compare to wolf. price is affordable for the weekend shooter. Quality of the ammo is very very good for the price. also very happy with .ammo.com- getting the order out to me so i can blow up the targets.. i don t like waiting for my ammo- the last place had to wait three weeks, was not happy

For relatively cheap ammo Works fairly well only had 1 misfire out of about 200 just had a little too much lacquer on it

  • donald said:

good ammo good price fast shipping will buy more and tell my friends..i do recommend

  • Dr. O. said:

This ammo was a great value. And performed well. Not a single jam. Very consistent

  • TedG said:

Fired about 100 rounds. No misfeeds, no duds, no significant accuracy loss over green-tips at 100yrds. I did notice that the spent casings actually eject a little differently (more to the rear and in a tighter grouping). This is actually nice for me because, when I fire federals, about 1/2 of the brass flies out the window of my shooting hut while the Wolf "brass" piles up in a neat little spot next to me on the inside of the hut. The price is right - highly recommended for plinking!

  • myob said:

    good ammo

  • Rick said:

Price was right, delivery was quick, Fed and ejected with no problems.

  • Jimbillyjoebob said:

You have to keep your AR clean no matter what ammo you feed it. I would not use this ammo for hunting if I had better available, but if you're going to be humming through 300+ rounds on an afternoon, it's hard to beat. Very rare misfeeds.

I just bought a Windham AR 15 .223. Never shot an AR before this one. The Federal .223`s I bought from Ammo.com cycled and fired flawlessly. I will buy these rounds again.

  • Earl the Pearl said:

Never had a problem, fed and fired always.

  • Darryl said:

Wasn't expecting the shipment so fast, fired from my rifles without problem dead on target.

  • Medic505 said:

Shot well from a Bushmaster m-4 and even better from a Savage Mod.10 heavy barrel. Pounding a spray paint can with every shot at 300 yards. Best price I've found for factory loaded rounds. Service was great. Arrived 3 days after order.

  • Willy said:

I have a Colt AR15, SP-1, which was the closest thing I could find to the M-16 I had in Vietnam. I also have a Ruger Mini-14 with a Bushnell red-dot. Both held their groups at 100 yards with this ammo. I shoot 5 shot 3" groups with both guns at that range on a bench without any support but my forearm. I shoot the SP-1 on a sandbag at 200 yards with the same group. The Ruger fall off badly at that range; gun's fault. Your ammo is fine. I can do better on the price but your service is good.

Great ordering process and phone check for delivery, ammunition worked well. I had no jams or mis-feeds during range Clean shots on target at 100 yards with my AR. Cleaning was easy with minimum carbon buildup.

  • Willy said:

As long as you keep your gun clean, this ammo is the best as far as value goes. Hit targets with no issue at 300 yds out of my AR. Will definitely order again!

  • Jay said:

Great ammo! No issues CANT GO WRONG WITH THIS AMMO! I worn you to clean your rifle ever two or three hundred round. Other than that it is great!!!

  • Dee said:

This Ammo is great for the way I use it..I shot mostly on the range to 100yd. It shots clean and I never had a misfire and I used many 1000s of rounds using this Ammo. Also the price is very affordable if you shot a lot like I do. Happy shooting hope for BULLSEYE. Dee

I bought 1k rounds of steel cased .223 and it arrived in less than 48 hours. I know you aren’t “supposed” to shoot steel cased out of an ar15, but after about 500 rounds I’ve experienced zero problems. It’s hard to beat 35 cents per round.

  • WOLFMAN JACK said:

Nothing wrong with this ammo, shots straight, and on target. !!!!!!

Great performance running through my Spikes ST-15 & Springfield Saint. No jams at all. I would recommend this product for practice and range use.

  • Ron said:

Ammo performs well. No problems, arrived quickly at an outstanding price. Will definitely be ordering again.

  • mclovin said:

    Cycled well thru ar

  • petarro said:

I'm new to this, I bought this Russian ammo and Winchester $$ ammo. The accuracy in the same grain was exactly the same. This one is brass so you can use the range and explodes almost as safe as all brass but it's at least safer than all steel. Price is great, boxes and ammo and quality is great too. Not sure what dirtier means but after dozens of each, the gun was in the same need to get cleaned.

  • Wolvian said:

Shoots fine but is a little dirty to shoot

  • Al said:

Very nice ammo to target practice and cheap to shoot a lot of.

  • luckey one said:

They arrived promptly. They fired very well and for the price i will buy more. I am very satisfied

  • J. T. said:

This is steel cartridge cases, steel core bullets and they have been banned from all indoor ranges I have been to as the round fouls up the range backstop. The cases are also Berdan primed and cannot be used for reloading, same garbage as TulAmmo. If you want to recycle you'll have to shoot several tons to recycle the steel. NOT RE-LOADABLE. They shoot, had some failure to feeds, I will never buy Russian made garbage again.

  • Stinky said:

    Shoots well. No problems.

  • Macdaddy203 said:

Very good ammo for the price. Haven't had one misfire in the 300 rounds I've shot so far. Thanks Ammo.com

  • Bill said:

This is the best ammo for the money, I've purchased the same in another color and paid alot more for it.

  • Chris said:

I shot close to 100 rounds with no problems. Good buy, will get more!

  • Randall11 said:

Have shot a few hundred rounds not a single misfire. Shipping was quick too.

  • David said:

I ordered this ammo on a Monday and it was at my door on Friday! Considering that it had to be shipped four states away that is FAST shipping. I also like the fact that Ammo.com donates a portion of every sale to pro gun institutions. This is now my number one "go to" source for ammo.

  • Jay said:

I have been using Wolf ammo for decades: It has been 100% reliable and has very good accuracy in my firearms. I am very happy with this product, especially on sale, and I am able to shoot more frequently and with more rounds fired per range time. This is very advantageous to keep ones skills honed. Hopefully, the importation of this ammo will continue at these favorable prices.

  • Bedwetter said:

Love this ammo have bought this 2x and have no problem with it In an AR 15 loads good no misfires or FFEX FFFR FFLD cleans up well and have no problem with it

  • Dave said:

Compared to brass prices you cant beat it! Shot about 500 rounds between two weekends had no issues every round shot flawlessly I will be returning for more

  • William said:

I have had a chance to use a few of the rounds, and am happy with the performance. No jams, and true flight.

  • John said:

Cost of steel cased ammo - cons of steel cased ammo - but well made AFAICT

I'll keep re-buying PMC 223 until I have a reason not to. They're priced nice and always work in my different rifles.

    Good stuff

This round was very consistent, very clean. I don't think you can do better for price in a brass cased round. Shooting in a Daniel Defense m4v11 they were flawless. Definitely ordering more.

I've shot PMC ammo for years on the range, for .223, .45acp & 9mm, never had a misfire or failure to feed on any of my guns. Korean ammo is the only foreign ammo I'll buy!

I have not shot any of this ammo as of yet because it is down the line in my rotation. But I was comfortable purchasing PMC ammo as I've never had any bad ammo from the company. The price was right at the time so it was a good buy for me. I look forward to purchasing ammo from your site again, thank you...

Very good ammo for the money! Reliable and accurate. Can't ask for anything more than that.

There's no doubting the quality of PMC Bronze. It's super reliable in every firearm. Thanks for a good deal on the case of ammo.

I have a remington Model 700sps varmint 223. with a bull barrel, n added a bipod, and a Barska 4-14 x 40 scope. i picked up a fiew boxes of the pmc bronze boat tail ammo in 55 grain simply because they wer only 7.25 for a box of 20. i was realy surprised on how consistant they wer. i placed 18 outa 20 rounds in a 3 inch circle at 150 yds. with a slight breeze. over all im realy pleased with this product, and will continue to use, an recommend this ammo.

I have bought lots of 1,000 of this ammo 2-3 times. The first lot(s) were good. However, I started getting tons of split case necks about every 10th round with my most recent lot. This was with a 10.5" AR pistol and good quality P-mags. I had my local gunsmith look at the gun, and he couldn't find any issues, so presumably the culprit was the ammo. Not sure if they had some QC issues this year? I haven't written off Fiocci, but I'll probably wait a while until any bad ammo cycles through the market.

Ive been shooting fiocchi 223 amd 9mm for a couple years solely now, never have had a malfunction, bad primer, or defaced/damaged round. Shoots great, burns well, and such a good price for what you get.

Purchased 1000 and reloaded those after shooting. Ammo functioned beyond expectations and reloaded cases performed well too.

The service was excellent. The performance of the Aguila .223 Rem FMJ ammo is superior to ammo that cost more. It is excellent quality brass and I've not had a single failure to date in over 1250 rounds fired over a three month period.

Ammo.com had the best price per round for the Aguila and also was pleasantly surprised on the ease and quickness of the order and delivery! I'll always shop here first!

Im amazed at the super fast service! I will continue my shopping at Ammo.com. Thanks.

Very tough exterior bag similar to some issue ammo during deployments. I see no issues that concern me. It saved me from doing my own storage prep.

I have a bear creek arsenal upper in 223 wild with a 20inch SS slick side charge and man I'm telling you that this stuff shoots 5 shots into 1/2 inch groups all day long, I bought this ammo because it shoots as flat as a 22,250 55 grain bullets do, I've yet to shoot any yotees yet but when I do you guys will be the first to know, I can't wait!!!!!
