Let's kick off the blueberry season 🫐 Blueberries are a fantastic food. They are a source of antioxidants, vitamin C, potassium, and fiber 💪, and eating them boosts the immune system. Nowadays, blueberries face some significant challenges when it comes to their transportation🚚. Botrytis cinerea and dehydration cause significant losses during transport. When blueberries lose their 'crunchiness,' their market value is reduced by up to 20%📉 This happens to almost half of all exports! At Nat4Bio🍋, we are committed to changing this reality. Our bio-based coatings naturally protect blueberries, helping to reduce losses and ensure they arrive in perfect condition, fresh, and ready for market. #Coatings #Sustainability #Blueberries #Agro

Sobre nosotros
At NAT4Bio, we develop naturally-sourced coatings that protect fruits and vegetables from spoilage and decay. We leverage microbial fermentation of selected fungi & bacteria in order to produce natural compounds with relevant properties. Through carefully designed downstream processes, we are able to obtain cell-free compounds, meaning we use microbes' active principles without the microbes themselves. Our first product is a natural and edible coating for fresh lemons that could potentially replace the combination of waxes and chemical fungicides. We are also working with blueberries and avocados, and we aim to expand our portfolio to address the needs of every fruit class.

🚀 Meet Paula Claps, our Phytopathologist! In our lab, Paula combines her expertise in plant diseases with her passion for sustainability, ensuring our biological solutions are innovative and impactful. "I love many things about working at Nat4Bio. On the one hand, the challenge of researching and developing a biological product for post-harvest applications, and on the other, the dynamic and flexible nature of responding to both the needs of a startup and the market. But what excites me the most is contributing to a more sustainable agriculture, creating a positive social and environmental impact." Paula's mission aligns perfectly with Nat4Bio's vision of offering natural solutions to the agricultural industry. She believes the company's success will pave the way for the broader adoption of biological products, benefiting both the market and consumers. At Nat4Bio🍋, we are proud to have passionate individuals like Paula, who are dedicated to pushing the limits of biotechnology while making a difference for our planet. #MeetTheTeam #Sustainability #Innovation

🔍 A study published by Consumer Reports revealed that 20% of U.S. agricultural products contain dangerous pesticide levels. Over seven years, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) conducted more than 30,000 tests on fruits and vegetables, showing that everyday foods like strawberries🍓, spinach, and apples🍎 have high levels of harmful pesticides. These include carbendazim (a hormone disruptor) and bifenthrin (a carcinogen). At Nat4Bio🍋, we are committed to changing this reality. We understand the urgency of moving towards safer, natural methods to protect our crops. That’s why we remain focused on our mission: Inspired by Nature, we develop 100% safe and effective solutions, free from toxic chemicals, to safeguard what matters most – our health🌱. While 733 million people suffer from hunger, millions of tons of food are lost and wasted worldwide every year. This waste means less food for those in need and contributes to 8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions🌱. It also produces methane, a gas 28 to 36 times more potent than CO₂ in causing global warming. In 2022, over 1.05 billion tons of food were wasted by households, retailers and restaurants - that's 132 kg per capita! At NAT4Bio 🍋, we are committed to reducing this waste. Our bio-based coatings protect food from harvest to shelf, extending shelf life and preserving quality🌎 #Sustainability #Coatings #FoodSafety #Foodwaste #agro
