The Aging European Car Fleet: The average age of European passenger cars has jumped from 10.4 years in 2013 to 12.3 years in 2022—and it's still climbing. Key Insights: • The share of cars 10-20 years old increased from 35.5% to 48.2% between 2013 and 2022 • Cars over 20 years old have doubled from 7.3% to 14.8% • This aging trend is caused by low new car sales. Today I was able to get an idea of the pioneering work of Fredrik Lestrup and his team at #NXTGenCup. As #Carmunication Chairman, I find it fascinating how they collect vehicle data using telematics, among other things, to not only analyze their vehicles in real time but also provide drivers with a benchmark for improvement. It is impressive how they have created a fleet of modern electric racing vehicles based on Mini Cooper bodyshells, continuously collected data during the development process and incorporating them for optimization. Using telematics and the data transmitted with it with such self-confidence and defining use cases from it is inspiring and motivating for me to create data and telematics driven business solutions for the #IAM together in our association. #Carmunication #NXTGenCup #Telematic #IAM

𝑨𝒏 𝒆𝒓𝒂 𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔, 𝒂 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒔. As chairman, Walter Birner has had a significant influence on Carmunication over the last 10 years and has driven the successful development of the organisation. At the most recent general assembly, which took place in Zagreb, Croatia, he passed the baton to his successor. "It has been a wonderful and exciting decade. But now the time has come to place responsibility and reins in younger hands", Walter Birner said. And these hands belong to Andre Huschke, who was elected as the new chairman. At the same time, Patrick Lo Pinto was appointed to the board as the new COO. We had supercars, artificial intelligence and an autonomous taxi from very practical perspectives - and in the end, for us automotive guys and gals, you guessed it, it's all about data. For the last topic on the agenda of the Croatian edition of our Meet-Up event series, we have changed the venue and chosen a slightly more formal setting. Because it's about legislation and the challenges facing our industry. Pierre Thibaudat from ADPA - Automotive Data Publishers Association gives an insight into the activities of ADPA and other IAM associations in Brussels: "Consumers and businesses alike are asking for a legislation on access to in-vehicle data and functions. The new European Commission and European Parliament have an extraordinary opportunity to build upon its legacy to efficiently and durably improve the safety, the sustainability and the affordability of road mobility with it." The digital life space will become the differentiating feature in the SDV. Hardware and software are decoupled therefore. At the same time, corresponding business ecosystems need to be developed and established. Augustin Friedel 🚲 🛴 🛵 🚘 from MHP – A Porsche Company also sees new potential for the independent aftermarket here. But there is not to much time left: According to him, it will be only another 2-3 years before the first real SDVs are driving on our roads. It looks as if the residents of Zagreb will be able to travel to work in autonomous taxis from 2026. Filip Cindrić from Verne explains how they are on the verge of bringing autonomous taxi driving to Zagreb, Croatia. Autonomous driving is a matter of data - generating, collecting, processing. E.g. service area in #Zagreb needs to be well defined and fully mapped. But there also a lot of legal challenges, which need to be addressed. In phase 1, which will start in 2026, Verne will operate in the southern part of the Croatian capital. Test drives are currently already taking place. Verne is a groundbreaking project in a country, that is open to innovation, co-financed by the European Union.
