🌍✨Warming Up for the Holiday Season with Horizon Europe project ScaleDem! As the holiday season approaches, we are excited to share the official launch of the #ScaleDem project! This EU-funded initiative is dedicated to connecting research outcomes with societal needs in democratic innovations. #ScaleDem builds on hundreds of insights from past projects, acting as a catalyst for solutions to be operationalized and replicated in new contexts. It also supports their broader adoption through a generous funding scheme designed to empower communities and enhance governance structures. We at #ECoD are proud to be one of 13 partners in this transformative journey! Leveraging our expertise in identifying and fostering democratic innovations, along with our extensive city network, we are contributing to the fair and transparent selection of pilots and twinning coalitions and strengthening communication, dissemination, and engagement through the Translation Hub. Together, we are turning innovative ideas into actionable solutions that empower communities and drive meaningful change. Recognizing bravery in the face of adversity: The 2024 Sakharov Prize honors those who champion freedom and democracy against all odds. ✊ Established by the European Parliament in 1988, the #SakharovPrize acknowledges individuals and organizations defending human rights and fundamental freedoms. This year, the 2024 Sakharov Prize has been awarded to María Corina Machado Parisca, leader of Venezuela’s democratic forces, and Edmundo González Urrutia, the country’s president-elect. Their tireless efforts represent the courage of Venezuelans fighting for the restoration of freedom and democracy, both within the country and abroad! We were honored to participate in meaningful discussions with #civilsociety organizations, laureates, and finalists during this remarkable event at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
