HYDROPHIL Visits Taraz: Key Engagement for WWTP Modernisation On October 22 and 23, HYDROPHIL's management and experts visited Taraz, Kazakhstan, to engage with key stakeholders in the Taraz Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Modernisation project. This important initiative aims to enhance the city's wastewater infrastructure and is critical to supporting the community's needs. During this visit, our team met with the mayor of Taraz City, Mr Bakhytzhan Orynbekov, the director of SCE Zhambyl Su, Mr Medet Berkembaev, and the head of the Project Implementation Unit, Mr Murat Jakishev, and his team. The discussions focused on project objectives, timelines, and any challenges we may face as we work towards successfully implementing this essential infrastructure project. As the consultant, HYDROPHIL is dedicated to delivering the best possible solutions for the city. We were pleased to be accompanied by the management and technical team from our partner, BDC Consulting LLP. Their expertise will enhance our collaboration as we tackle the complexities of modernising Taraz's wastewater treatment facilities, transitioning from outdated filtration lagoons to state-of-the-art WWTP. Understanding the local context will be vital as we implement innovative solutions that improve public health, protect the environment, and comply with both national and EU standards. I would like to thank all participants of the joint UNDP/ PIK workshop for the lively discussion and validation of the developed climate impact chains for the water-agriculture nexus in Turkmenistan. These climate impact chains were developed by the HYDROPHIL GmbH team for the UNDP NAP project in Turkmenistan and represent an important step towards strengthening the national adaptation planning process in Turkmenistan.   As team leader I would like to thank on behalf of HYDROPHIL GmbH the UNDP National Adaptation Planning Project (Maya Ashirova, Kristina Orlova (She/Her) and Luiza Ergeshyeva), PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (Dr. Iulii Didovets) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (Amangul Ovezberdiyeva) for organizing, supporting and making this workshop possible.    Special thanks to the breakout group facilitators Sven Willner, Guljamal Nurmuhamedova and Kristina Orlova (She/Her).   My gratitude extends to the experts from PIK (Dr. Iulii Didovets, Stefanie Wesch (she/her), Bijan Fallah, Qaisar Saddique) and GFZ (Milena Latinović).
