Changing behaviours, saving lives

About us

Acusensus pioneers intelligent solutions that can be rapidly deployed to address road safety challenges. Since our founding in 2018, Acusensus has revolutionised road safety by developing technology that detects drivers illegally using mobile phones while driving. Our innovative solutions have since expanded to address key areas such as speed enforcement (including both point-to-point and average speed detection), seatbelt compliance, and vehicle registration/number plate recognition. Road Safety is at the core of all Acusensus initiatives. Our continuous innovation drives us to address emerging road safety issues, such as developing advanced solutions for road worker safety and pioneering research in impaired driving prevention. In Australia, Acusensus has implemented comprehensive road safety programs across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and the Australian Capital Territory, targeting dangerous driving behaviours like speeding, seatbelt non-compliance, and driver distraction. Globally, we are expanding our impact with active road safety initiatives in the United States and the United Kingdom. Acusensus has a growing international presence, with offices in Australia, the UK, and the USA, enabling us to bring our solutions to roads around the world.

  • This International Women’s Day, Acusensus is taking the opportunity to highlight the diverse talent throughout our organisation. One of the great minds behind the Acusensus Road Worker Safety project is Aimee Allen, who is currently researching robotics for her doctorate at Monash University. Aimee specifically focuses on investigating human-robot interactions, specifically the sounds robots could or should make around humans. “I want to do robotics,” Aimee says in The Australian’s Women in Education Special Report. “I want something that exists in reality. I want to do the hard hardware.” Aimee expects to finish her thesis in August this year and hopes to continue her work in the Acusensus Road Worker Safety team, where she is assisting in building mechatronic multi-modal devices to decrease road worker-related deaths and injuries, one of the deadliest occupations. • Acusensus is proud to partner with Department of Transport and Main Roads to trial mobile road safety cameras at rail level crossings across Queensland. The mobile cameras will be at high-risk level crossings in Toowoomba, Cairns, Rockhampton, Townsville, and Brisbane. This trial will detect unsafe driving behaviours as trains approach and pass. The findings from the trial will be used to inform future solutions to improve safety at level crossings across Queensland. Acusensus General Manager, Geoff Collins, joined BBC radio to discuss how Acusensus technology uses images of UK drivers to deter dangerous seatbelt and phone behaviour. In the UK, approximately 50,000 drivers hold their mobile phone daily while driving, and roughly 500,000 daily journeys exclude seatbelt use (Department for Transport survey data: https://lnkd.in/gTmXv-XA). Essex will join 19 police forces across the UK who have already partnered with Acusensus to improve road safety. Essex police force’s head of roads policing, Adam Pipe, called the photo results “phenomenal” and predicted this collaboration is likely to reduce road accidents. Acusensus is proud to partner with UK police departments to pursue our shared road safety mission to change behaviour, save lives and make the roads a safe place for everyone. • Acusensus is proud to be partnering with the Highway 7 Safety Coalition in Southlake, MN, to deter people from using their phones while driving. Acusensus technology will be deployed roadside to identify drivers who are not practicing safe habits. Working directly in conjunction with local police, photos of distracted drivers are sent to local police, who then pull those drivers over to educate them on safe and legal driving behaviour. https://lnkd.in/geDfcw_E

  • Acusensus Chairman, Ravin MIRCHANDANI, took the stage at The Sadak Suraksha Abhiyaan 2025 to share insights on how road safety technology is addressing challenges in India and around the world. Mirchandani commented, “We’ve got to get to the point where it’s normal to demand safe roads as part of being a responsible citizen.”

We are proud to share that our Chairman, Mr. Ravin MIRCHANDANI, was a distinguished participant in the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan 2025, hosted by CNBC Awaaz, alongside esteemed personalities such as Amitabh BACHCHAN, Samantha PRABHU, Vikram MASSEY, Revant HIMATSINGHA, and Ajay CHAUDHARI. During the panel discussion, Mr. MIRCHANDANi shared his insights on how Ador's technology is playing a pivotal role in reducing speeding incidents in India. He also highlighted the implementation of AI-driven solutions to enhance enforcement measures and influence driver behavior for safer roads. . . . #ador #adortraffic #traffic #trafficmanagement #roadsafety #technology

  • Following successful in-house development and a feature on Sunrise at Seven Network in 2023, Acusensus' impaired driving detection project commenced real-world trials in Devon and Cornwall on 13 December 2024. This trial marks a world first, integrating drugs and alcohol detection capabilities into the existing Heads-Up system. Devon and Cornwall, already the first UK region to deploy Heads-Up for long-term enforcement of distracted driving and seatbelt non-compliance, now lead the way with this groundbreaking initiative. Unlike the detection of mobile use or seatbelt violations - where photographic evidence undergoes human review - potentially impaired drivers identified by Heads-Up are flagged immediately, enabling police stationed downstream to take action. This initiative, delivered in partnership with Devon and Cornwall Police, aligns with the Vision Zero South West road safety partnership's mission to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on the region's roads. Acusensus is proud to be conducting the world's first trial of this pioneering technology that will save lives. For more information, read more on: https://lnkd.in/gfTuMtFE https://lnkd.in/gmiTYy5i

  • Acusensus is proud to announce that we have been selected as a successful supplier for a nationwide mobile speed camera enforcement program in New Zealand. In partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA), we will be delivering localised, high-quality operations for this significant road safety initiative. The program, slated to commence in 2025, will deploy a mix of vehicle-based and trailer-based enforcement solutions to reduce casualties across the country. Tara Macmillan, NZTA Head of Regulatory Strategic Programmes, announced in NZTA's official media release that this decision is derived from evidence that "a mix of signed and unsigned safety cameras of various types generates greater road safety benefits than either one alone." Acusensus is honoured to collaborate with NZTA, leveraging innovative technology to enhance safety for both road users and enforcement operators. This initiative underscores our shared commitment to making communities safer by reducing crashes and casualties on New Zealand's roads. We look forward to supporting New Zealand's leadership in road safety and delivering solutions that save lives. For more information, visit NZTA's official media release: https://lnkd.in/gat5PWGG
