Updates

  • The Court of Disputed Returns has declared Mr Carmine Di Troia not duly elected as area councillor for Adelaide Plains Council and that a recount be conducted. This order finalises the Electoral Commissioner of South Australia’s (ECSA) petition disputing the outcome of the recount that followed the resignation of a councillor in October 2023, due to an error in the computer software it used for counting votes in complex elections. Council acknowledges Carmine Di Troia for his 6 years of service to his community, representing the Lewiston ward and, in recent times, as an area councillor. Carmine has always shown interest in all Council-related matters and we wish him well for his future endeavours. A recount of the votes cast at the November 2022 periodic election will be conducted by ECSA to fulfil the vacancy. This process is expected to take place in early January 2025.
