Australia’s Hidden Workforce: One Million Skilled Australians Abroad & Returning ✈️💼 Recruiters & Governments—don’t overlook Australian global talent! 🇦🇺 The 2025 Global Australian Report and Australian HR Institute Quarterly Australian Work Outlook reveal a critical disconnect in Australia’s workforce strategy: 🔹 60% of Australian employers plan to hire migrant workers in 2025 to address skill shortages 🔹 95% of Australians abroad want to return, but only 15% have concrete plans due to limited pathways 🔹 51% are actively seeking job opportunities back home, yet their global experience is undervalued 🔹 A third of employers (33%) cite a lack of skilled domestic candidates as the reason for overseas hiring 🔹 Public sector (81%) leads in overseas recruitment, followed by voluntary (63%) and private (55%) sectors 🔹 Returned Australians face barriers—52% struggle to rebuild networks, while many find recruiters dismiss their international experience. “We are contacted daily by skilled Australians abroad who want to return but face barriers—or who have returned, only to find that recruiters don’t value their overseas experience.” – Kate McQuestin, CEO, Advance Global Australians. The Solution? A Smarter Workforce Strategy ✅ Recruiters tapping into this highly skilled, globally experienced workforce ✅ Employers establishing career transition programs & hiring incentives ✅ Governments streamlining return pathways & promote Australian talent first 💡 Australia’s global talent isn’t just an asset—it’s critical to our future prosperity. We need a strategic workforce plan that values both international talent and returning Australians. Full statement here: https://lnkd.in/gjvszZTk 📢 It’s time to rethink recruitment. Are we doing enough to bring our own skilled workforce home? Let’s discuss! 👇 #AdvanceGlobalAustralians #GlobalTalent #AussieExpats #Recruitment #AustraliaJobs #WorkforceStrategy #SkillsShortage #Repatriation #FutureofWork

Investing in R&D is investing in the future of patient care. The Australian Government's Strategic Examination of R&D is a much-needed opportunity to reshape how we translate scientific breakthroughs into real-world patient access 🌏. Currently, Australia’s R&D investment has declined from 2.25% of GDP in 2008–09 to just 1.68% in 2021–22. This is well below the OECD average of 2.7% (source: industry.gov.au). For patients diagnosed with #cancer and other serious diseases, this isn’t just a statistic. It’s a missed opportunity for innovation, access, and better health outcomes. To truly make an impact, this examination must: ✅ Align R&D investment with patient needs – ensuring that breakthroughs in precision medicine and targeted therapies lead to real, timely access. ✅ Strengthen Australia’s clinical trial infrastructure – expanding trial capacity and regulatory efficiency so that more patients can benefit from cutting-edge research here at home. ✅ Streamline regulatory and reimbursement pathways – bridging the gap between innovation and access by modernizing HTA processes. ✅ Enhance industry-government collaboration – fostering a unified approach across research, biotech, industry, patient groups and healthcare sectors. At BeiGene, we believe that bold investment in R&D, coupled with smarter policy frameworks, will be key to unlocking faster, more #equitable #access to life-saving treatments. This is a pivotal moment for Australian innovation and patient care. How can we ensure this examination delivers real impact? Let’s drive the conversation forward. 💬👇

As Australians around the world come together to celebrate Australia Day, we’re reminded of the unique traits that make Aussies so well-regarded abroad. Advance Global Australians study shows how Aussies are overwhelmingly well-regarded abroad, with North America and the UK leading the charge, and similarly strong sentiments in Europe and the Asia Pacific. These positive perceptions reflect the essence of who we are—friendly, generous, and incredibly capable. But more than professional achievements, it’s the spirit of “mateship” that sets us apart. Loyalty, equality, and unconditional support are at the heart of our culture, resonating far beyond our shores. While we acknowledge the complexities of our past, we take pride in the qualities that define us today—resilience, generosity, and the drive to build connections across borders. This Australia Day, let’s celebrate the positive impact Aussies continue to make globally—fostering friendships, strengthening communities, and championing success. Wherever you are, may we find unity in our differences, strength in our connections, and optimism for the future. #AdvanceGlobalAustralians #AustraliaDay2025 #AustralianExpat #Mateship #GlobalConnections
