Another unanimous approval for Altus Planning with a Child Care Premises in Mandurah. This one catering for 76 children was approved this morning by the Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel. We had the typical challenges associated with these types of proposals including convincing the City's engineers on the optimum crossover location that balanced amenity considerations. Congratulations to the entire project team, including Joe Germano from Germano Designs, Herring Storer Acoustics, and SALT3. Special thanks also to our Senior Planner Jayden Pope for his diligent work from the start to finish with the planning application.

It's been an exciting 24 hours here at Altus Planning as we've successfully obtained not 1 but 2 approvals for Child Care Premises in the City of South Perth on behalf of our clients, Panda Early Learning Centre. Childcare facilities always present their challenges, and these were not different; with one a retrofit of two former residential dwellings in an activity centre precinct and the other a new-purpose built two-storey facility in a residential zone. Both of these centres will go some way to addressing the demand for childcare within the South Perth and Como localities. Special thanks to our Associate Ben Laycock for his hard work together with the broader project teams, including Paterson Architects, ON Architecture, Herring Storer Acoustics, Urbii, KCTT (part of Premise) and Kimberley Beasley (PhD) of Childscapes.

We are pleased to report the Metro Outer DAP's approval of a $42 million state of the art Carbon Recycling Facility in Keralup (Shire of Murray) this morning. Congratulations to our client C-Wise and the consultant team, notably Ronan, Matthew and Tayla at Talis Consultants plus John Hurley from EAQ Consulting. Finally, special thanks to Jayden Pope in our office for his hard work on this one. In a fast-growing city, waste recovery and recycling is an important part of a sustainable future. https://lnkd.in/dzgMiuf2

Congratulations to the Inside-and-Out team for their winning Site Analysis project. Elizabeth Collins, Joe Algeri and the other judges had a difficult task with every group displaying such a high standard of work. Go 1st year planning students!

Our esteemed Director was the first guest to be interviewed in what we hope will be an ongoing series from Andra Biondi and the team at Cornerstone Town Planning. Andra and Joe tackled a broad range of issues including planning reform, the R-Codes, affordability, immigration, all 3 tiers of government and the State Administrative Tribunal. Well, if you do listen, you'll see that Joe cleverly sidestepped that last one and diverted to third-party appeals.
https://lnkd.in/e5Rw4GgK Ladies & Gentleman, I am pleased to present Cornerstone Town Planning’s first podcast of 2024 with the infamous Joe Algeri, Director of Altus Planning! Joe’s career has spanned more than 30 years in the planning industry; he has a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective that lends itself to today’s topic: The Rapidly Changing Nature of the Planning Industry. There have been some changes since Joe and I filmed this podcast (which is a testament in itself to the evolving nature of planning policy in WA), however, we'd love if you can take some time out of your schedule to have a listen! I encourage those of you who are just starting out in your planning career to also check out Joe’s career advice at the end of the podcast: · Don’t pretend you know everything. · Prepare. · Sometimes the best way of being persuasive is to express some empathy to the other side. Cheers to a fantastic 2024 of Cornerstone Town Planning podcasts!
