International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPwD) is tomorrow! 🎉 We wanted to share some important facts and statistics about disability in Australia, in case you didn’t know. 📊 ▪️ 5.5 million Australians live with some form of disability – that's almost 1 in 6 people. ▪️ 17.8% of females and 17.6% of males in Australia have a disability. ▪️ The likelihood of having a disability increases with age – 2 in 5 people with a disability are 65 years or older. ▪️ 90% of disabilities are invisible. ▪️ 1.9 million people with disabilities are aged 65 and over, making up 44.5% of all people with disability. ▪️ 2.1 million Australians of working age (15-64 years) live with a disability. ▪️ 35.9% of Australia’s 8.9 million households include a person with a disability.
