🎬 "At the end of the day, hiring people with disability is a smart business choice. That's not funny - that's fantastic!" Companies who hire people with disability benefit from: ✨ More engaging workplace culture ✨ A workforce that reflects customers and community ✨ Improved brand reputation ✨ Increased productivity ✨ Higher employee retention rates Last Tuesday on International Day of People with Disability, we were thrilled to see so many of our members and businesses across Australia highlighting how they're choosing inclusion. But the journey doesn't stop here - inclusion is a year-round commitment. Join the hundreds of organisations already choosing inclusion. A membership based, for-purpose organisation that supports companies to advance the inclusion of people with disability.
About us
OUR VISION A disability confident Australia. OUR PURPOSE To build employer capability and be the employer voice to government, industry and community to achieve the inclusion of people with disability. OUR VALUES Collaborative - We actively participate, we actively listen, and we proactively seek out and share information. Open - We have courageous conversations, say when we need help and communicate authentically and respectfully. Flexible - We explore new ways of doing things, we learn from experience, and we adapt to changing circumstances. Ambitious - We celebrate successes, demonstrate respect, accessibility and inclusion at all times and we actively strive to maximise AND’s impact. The Australian Disability Network (ADN) is a not for profit organisation funded by its members to take a leadership role in advancing the equitable inclusion of people with disability in all aspects of business. We assist our members to reap the business benefits of employing people with disability, and welcoming customers with disability. We are not an employment agency and do not find jobs for people with disability - we work on the employer-side to improve internal systems and procedures to ensure they are accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. Approximately 20% of the Australian population has a disability - that's one in every five people in Australia. Ensuring your organisation is disability confident isn't just the "right thing to do" - it also makes very good business sense. Through the delivery of unique products and services, we assist organisations to build skills and confidence in relation to people with disability as employees, customers and other stakeholders. Disability inclusion makes good business sense. This is evident from our own success. We came 2nd in the 2023 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work list - Government, Education and Not-for-Profit category.

Lead by example! Change starts at the top 🌟 Research shows that when CEOs and senior leaders actively champion disability inclusion, organisations are significantly more likely to achieve their diversity goals and outperform their competitors. In fact, companies who effectively include people with disability are 4 times more likely to outperform their peers in shareholder returns. Hear from Australia Post CEO, Paul Graham, on how cultivating an inclusive culture matters to his employees and the communities they serve. His leadership shows how understanding your people's needs drives meaningful change across an organisation. Ready to lead the change in your organisation? Coming in 2025, our Listen to Lead program facilitates powerful conversations between employees with disability and senior leaders. 🌍 Today marks International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD), and at Australian Disability Network, we're proud to support #IDPWD2024 by championing the removal of unintentional barriers in the workplace with #ChooseInclusion 📽️ We released "It's Not Hard to be Inclusive", a humorous and thought-provoking short film by Australian Disability Network for IDPwD 2024. It highlights the social model of disability, showing how societal barriers, not individual conditions, create disability. Watch the full short film for more insights: https://lnkd.in/gs5m44ZT (Audio description version available) 🗒️ Leading up to IDPwD we released weekly resources that focus on key areas of business and how organisations can #RemoveBarriers. Check out our website: https://lnkd.in/gcShiDc7 💜 While it's fantastic to dedicate a day to recognise the 5.5 million Australians with disability, let's remember that inclusivity is not a one-time event but a continuous commitment. Every day is an opportunity to embrace #diversity, create #accessible spaces, and foster an #inclusive mindset. 💬 Join the IDPwD conversation online or in your community to challenge perceptions, break down barriers, and encourage a more diverse and inclusive Australia. Test your knowledge! Which of these is NOT an example of an Inclusive Attitude? Inclusive attitudes are the foundation of a truly accessible and equitable workplace. By challenging unconscious biases, valuing diverse experiences, and fostering a culture of respect, we can remove barriers that may hinder the full participation of people with disability.
