Australian Payments Network (AusPayNet) is the self-regulatory body for Australia's payments industry.
About us
We are the self-regulatory body set up by the payments industry to improve the safety, reliability, equity, convenience and efficiency of the Australian payments system. We are the home for collaboration and cross-industry innovation. We play an important role in driving continuous improvement, bringing together members and a growing number of new stakeholders. Moreover, in our role as champion of the payments system, we help the payments network to thrive. Our network of 120 organisations spans a wide range of participants with varying levels of involvement. In April 2017, we announced that the Australian Payments Clearing Association (APCA) had changed its name to Australian Payments Network Limited. The rebrand is part of the company’s repositioning to more effectively meet the needs of the changing payments landscape. Day two of Payments NZ's conference, The Point 2024 just wrapped – and what an insightful two days it was. This afternoon, our COO, Luke Wilson, was a part of the ‘International Leaders Future of Payments’ panel which focused on what New Zealand can learn and how it can lead. They delved into the need to consider the uniqueness of Aotearoa and power of collaboration when shaping their future of payments. AusPayNet was delighted to share our learnings at The Point 2024, and we look forward to welcoming Payments NZ's Chief Executive, Steve Wiggins to our payments summit in Sydney next month. #ThePoint2024 #NavigatingBeyond #Payments #PaymentsNZ #AusPayNet

The release of our latest fraud data coincides with International Fraud Awareness Week. CNP fraud now accounts for 92% of total card fraud. Our domestic card fraud mitigants are working, with the CNP fraud rate on Australian merchants continuing to fall. However, CNP transactions where Australian cards are acquired on overseas merchants account for 3% of card spend, but now account for 51% of all card fraud. Our blog investigates the potential causes and the call for action. https://lnkd.in/gpxtZviM #Fraud #Payments #AustralianPayments #FraudWeek #AusPayNet

Day one of Payments NZ’s bi-annual conference, The Point, is well underway with a dynamic program content that has proven highly engaging so far. AusPayNet’s Head of Economic Crime, Toby Evans, joined this afternoon’s panel on ‘Fighting Digital Fraud in the Generative AI Age: Examining the Global Scam Economy’. Toby, alongside colleagues from New Zealand and the UK, did a deep dive into how AI has transformed the landscape of digital fraud and how it will require a global approach to address new challenges and threats. In the other content stream offered, AusPayNet’s COO, Luke Wilson and Pay.UK’s Daniel Jonas, were guest panelists for the session ‘Perspectives on Global Payments Modernisation Approaches’. During the panel, Luke and Daniel detailed their respective nation’s strategies for shaping the future of payments and what learnings could be applied to Aotearoa. Looking forward to day two! Our CEO, Andy White, was a panellist and roundtable lead discussant on economic crime at the Singapore FinTech Festival and its Insights Forum. Alongside experts from around the world, to stop these pernicious crimes at source, Andy emphasised the need to incentivise the entire scams lifecycle (as Australia’s Scams Prevention Framework aims to do) and to remove global legal and regulatory impediments to international data sharing and law enforcement. In preventing economic crime, we are better together. #Payments #EconomicCrime #PaymentsAustralia #SFF2024 #SingaporeFintechFestival #AusPayNet
