Applications for the 2025 ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) equity grant are now open! We’ve developed the ANZCA ASM Equity Grants recognising the importance of fellows accessing extensive and diverse continuing professional development (CPD) activities. Up to four grants of $A2500 will be available for ANZCA and Faculty of Pain Medicine (ANZCA) fellows who meet the selection criteria and who previously haven’t been able to attend an ASM due to travel, financial or care giving issues. FPM Outreach clinics are not just culturally appropriate and support our rural and remote patients but are also cost effective and strengthen local communities thereby reducing pressure on tertiary services. Specialist pain medicine physician Dr Hannah Bennett runs the persistent pain outreach clinic in Palm Island as joint clinical director of the North Queensland Persistent Pain Service. After piloting the outreach service in 2023 with a grant from ANZCA’s Health Equity Projects Fund, Dr Bennett is a regular visitor to Palm Island with the clinic which not only treats patients, but also provides culturally safe and appropriate pain education five times a year. She and a Townsville based allied health team work on site at the Palm Island Community Company (PICC) Bwgcolman Healing Service with Aboriginal Health Workers employed by PICC.

Dr Danielle Volling-Geoghegan is one-half of our 2025 ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) Scientific Convenor team and part of the wider Cairns Regional Organising Committee. #ASM25CNS When asked about the program, Danielle said "It really is like the biggest jigsaw puzzle and we just hope delegates enjoy the program as much as we think they will! Also, the social program will definitely be a highlight." She agrees Cairns is an awesome place to visit and says "Cairns is an amazing tourist destination with so many unique experiences for delegates to seek out."
