  • You know that you’ve got something worth having when someone else wants to take it off you. At least our interstate friends weren’t left hanging for long with the announcement this morning that #adelaide will be the home of LIV Golf until 2031! On top of that, the North Adelaide Golf Course, in its perfect location, will undergo a Greg Norman transformation that will ensure it is one of the world’s best public courses! The boost this event provides is a massive win for pubs and accommodation, but most importantly for the state’s profile, vibrancy and economy. It is the world-wide advertisement that money simply can’t buy. This event has contributed $136 million to the state’s economy over the past 2 years and almost 80,000 visitor nights last year alone. And it just keeps getting better! #southaustralia – The #destinationstate. • Thanks to Darren and Kelly Beare and their team at the Westland Hotel Motel for hosting our first Regional Meeting and Luncheon for the year in Whyalla, who prepared a fantastic BBQ for members and corporate partners. The whole of Whyalla is such an important part of South Australia’s economy, and publicans are central to providing corporate and tourism accommodation. We hope a resolution regarding the Whyalla steelworks situation can soon be reached and give a boost in trade and confidence to workers and local businesses. If members have any questions about today's workplace relations, licensing, Gaming Care, or training topics, please reach out! #sahotels

  • It was fantastic to attend the official opening of the new Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes! This new $70m, luxury, 155-room hotel is ideally situated on the fringe of Adelaide’s northern suburbs, perfectly located next to major corporate, defence and education precincts, as well as being near South Australia’s famous wine regions - the Barossa and Clare Valley! Faisal Sayed, General Manager at Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes, expects the hotel will provide an attractive venue for private functions, corporate events, and play an exciting role in our state’s vibrancy. Pictured with Accommodation Australia SA’s Manager, Katherine Taylor, and AHA|SA Manager Membership and Business Services, Scott Vaughan. Congratulations to IHG Hotels & Resorts, Pelligra®, ONE7, and to Faisal and the team at Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes for the successful opening of this exceptional new hotel! #sahotels

  • The Gungellan Hotel and The Freeling Hotel are fantastic examples of South Australian family owned and operated pubs at the heart of their communities! Like many of our smaller hotel members, they are facing issues that government and key decision makers need to address to ease trading and facilitate growth. Gungellan Hotel Licensees, Lee and Eliza said, "Cost of living is having an impact on us and customers. The alcohol excise is one of the biggest issues we face, making it even tougher." The Freeling Hotel Licensee, Dom, said, "Our industry is over regulated and we’re fed up all the way to the back teeth with red tape!” Anna Moeller | David Basheer #sahotels

  • Hotels are the centre of our cities and towns - they give back to their communities, create a space for music and creativity, and are vital to South Australia's vibrancy! The Exchange Hotel in Gawler has a 153 year history and has evolved with a vision to help attract more events to the region. AHA|SA member and Owner, Damian McGee, shares his story, passion for the Gawler community, but also the issues our industry continues to advocate on, including the Federal Government's infamous alcohol excise.
