  • For the first time BIGSOUND, in partnership with Amplify Music Education, coordinated a music industry leadership dinner on the first day of BIGSOUND. The dinner was an opportunity for music leaders to meet and discuss themes that were further discussed through the BIGSOUND conference program. All thanks to our from Gerard's Bistro.

  • At BIGSOUND 2024, one of the incredible people who spoke on their own panel during this year’s conference was Co-Director of Sundowner Artists, Simone Ubaldi. Simone represents three-time ARIA Award winners Amyl and The Sniffers, as well as Grace Cummings, and Girl And Girl. At BIGSOUND 2024, Simone spoke alongside her Co-Director Andrew Parisi on Sniffing Out Gold: Taking Amyl To The World, but we wanted to know more about how Simone found her way into Australia’s vibrant music community. Leading up to BIGSOUND, chatted to her about her unexpected career journey, and how she found herself representing Australia’s most memorable, and impactful, punk exports.

  • Led by and dedicated to amplifying Indigenous voices, BIGSOUND 2024’s expansive First Nation’s Goolwal Goolwal program captured the hearts and minds of delegates and music lovers alike. Nestled in the heart of Fortitude Valley, Goolwal Garden (The Sound Garden) provided an inclusive sanctuary, hosting thought-provoking panels, workshops, yarns, electrifying showcase performances, and exclusive events. Highlights included traditional Butchulla Songman and music industry professional Fred Leone's Keynote on his unique experience as one of the custodians of the traditional songs of his mob, and one of only a handful of keepers and custodians of the Butchulla language. Whilst Electric Fields’ Zaachariaha Fielding spoke at Goolwal Garden about their own unique experiences as a First Nations artist and sharing their culture on a global stage. When the sun went down, Mulga Bore Hard Rock melted brains with their powerful fusion of English and native language, establishing themselves as a unique force within the music scene. Miiesha, Sunny Luwe, Hylander, Kristal West, and Mau power also showcased their incredible talent, alongside Jamaica Moana, Velvet Trip, Jamahl Yami, and Reiki Ruawai. We'd like to thank BIGSOUND Elders-In-Residence Uncle Kevin Starkey and Toni Janke, First Nations Music Officer Sue Ray, Producer Kearna Kemister, Support Officer Natalie Lingwoodock, and the First Nations Consultancy Group Karina Hogan, Larissa Jane Hume, Will Pawa-Oui, Catherine Satour, Boe Skuthorpe-Spearim, Emily Wells and Sky Thomas for a beautiful program and incredible year! Goolwal Goolwal is produced by QMusic, supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia.

  • At BIGSOUND 2024, we were lucky enough to receive crucial information about how we can improve the way we nurture local talent, the barriers young people face when attempting to engage in their local music scene, and the ways in which live events are evolving to adapt to an entirely new industry landscape. Explore the Reports and Data presented by Annabelle Herd, Bolster Group, Tixel, The Push, and Live Nation APAC at BIGSOUND, that'll help us build a stronger music community.

  • Following last week’s jam-packed schedule of exciting performances, insightful keynotes, and thought-provoking panels, BIGSOUND has added another incredibly successful event to the history books.   With the number of Festival attendees up by 40% from 2023, it’s evidently clear that Australians still crave an immersive live music experience.  Reflecting on this year’s event, QMusic CEO Kris Stewart says “It was so meaningful to see everyone from the music industry gather and focus on positives and how together, we can capitalise on a moment of change and make it an opportunity instead of a challenge.   “It was a hugely successful year, which is incredible given the challenges faced by our industry in recent times. As importantly, it was a really strong year for the number of new collaborations and business outcomes that were initiated at BIGSOUND, and we’ll see the successes of these moving forward.”   Read more about what the 1500+ delegates of BIGSOUND 2024 experienced here: https://lnkd.in/gedPz7xU
