Flexible Solutions for Real Outcomes

About us

The Centre for Family Research and Evaluation is a collaborative, applied research centre. It was established in 2006 as an entity of drummond street services, with aims to bridge the gap between research and practice in family-based programs. We work with agencies dedicated to improving child and family well-being, from sectors such as family and parenting services, education and early childhood. We aim to contribute practice-based research and outcome evaluations to the evidence-base. Our key work with agencies involves providing support to build their capacity to make strategic decisions, monitor the quality and progress of their services and programs, as well as evaluate the impact of their work.

  • Researchers from AIFS are calling on LGBTIQA+ communities to help investigate abuse and mistreatment of older LGBTIQA+ people. This research will help Government to better understand the types of abuse that older LGBTIQA+ people experience, the characteristics of those who experience and engage in this abuse, the impact on older LGBTIQA+ people, and their help-seeking behaviours. How can you get involved? Online anonymous survey. All adults aged 18+ who identify as an LGBTIQA+ person are eligible to participate. We want to understand the views, experiences and awareness about elder abuse from all people in LGBTIQA+ communities. For more info or to take the survey head to: https://buff.ly/3NVMGen

  • This year, we proudly participated in the 16 Days of Activism to take a stand against gender-based violence. We believe that no one should ever experience violence, regardless of their sex, gender, identity, status, or any other factor. Gender-based violence is a violation of human rights, and it affects individuals, families, and communities worldwide. Together, we can challenge harmful norms, advocate for justice, stand in solidarity, speak out and work towards a world where everyone can live free from fear. #16DaysofActivism #EndGenderBasedViolence

  • Today is Trans Day of Remembrance We pause to honour and remember the lives of transgender and gender-diverse people taken from us due to violence and transphobia. It’s a day to reflect on the struggles faced by trans communities and recommit to standing against transphobia and far right misogyny. At Drummond Street Services and Queerspace, we stand with trans and non-binary people. We take inspiration from an old union slogan to apply to the struggle for trans rights today and every day: Mourn for the dead and fight like hell for the living. Please join us in attending the Trans Day of Remembrance Vigil Livestream this evening organised by Transgender Victoria. 📅 20th November 2024 ⏰ 5:45 PM AEST This vigil is a space to grieve, show solidarity, and inspire action. Your presence—whether in person or online—matters Register here: https://buff.ly/3Oj3JYe #TDOR #TDOR24 #TransDayOfRemembrance #TransRightsAreHumanRights

  • For survivors of sexual abuse, along with their supporters and whistle-blowers, every voice is essential. National Survivors’ Day offers a vital moment to recognise, respect, and amplify the stories that need to be told, heard, and met with meaningful action. Each year, Drummond Street Services observes this day, acknowledging our responsibility as an organisation with a history of causing harm. We recognise the importance of redress and accountability, and we are committed to standing with survivors—including many of our own clients and staff—as they show resilience and courage. Together, we are committed to building a future rooted in trust and healing. #NationalSurvivorsDay #WeBelieveYou
