🤔 Interesting data from StewartBrown published in Inside Ageing 🤔 The below infographic shows that there has been a slight improvement in financial performance for #homecare providers, which is important for a sector that is struggling to remain sustainable. (Source: https://lnkd.in/gUJANAVU) There are also some areas to watch, especially as #supportathome approaches: ⬆ Care management fees as they currently stand are above the 10% cap that will be funded from 1st July 2025 ⬆ The unspent funds per package has increased significantly, and we will see the rollover component change with #supportathome Given these two findings, under #supportathome it will be important for care management staff to be more efficient. Systems will need to give time back to these teams, allowing them to focus on complex tasks that will ensure each client is using the services required to have the best possible quality of life. If you'd like to know more about how Checked In Care partners have been able to make these changes, please register for our upcoming webinar: https://lnkd.in/gsev2dQR

Right before Christmas, the #DoHAC released a fact sheet that clarifies the Higher Everyday Living Fee or #HELF. And 100% honesty... I missed this piece of important info on what was the last day of the working year for 2024! The upcoming changes to Additional Services is one of the big questions still hanging over residential care providers. While there is still consultation underway, at least we know more than we did. The video is a quick summary of the key points from the documents. 📚 Key resources mentioned in the video... ✔ Higher Everyday Living Fee fact sheet: https://lnkd.in/g3cXbwd7 ✔ New Aged Care Act Rules consultation – Release 1 – Service list: https://lnkd.in/gyhrxmqh Note that these documents need to be read together, as well as the relevant sections of the legislation. Keen to hear everyone's thoughts! At Checked In Care this has been a hot topic of conversation, and we are working with providers to find a solution for how can realistically manage this new model. Thanks to Megan White CPPP of Pride Living for the heads up that this had been released! #agedcare #newagedcareact #digitalhealth

  • 📢 Aged Care Update: Q1 ACQSC Sector Performance Report 📢 "Complaints about lack of consultation and communication is still the number one complaint topic in home services. Good communication with the older person to explain ‘what, when, why and how’ can go a long way to resolving concerns. Common complaints about communication include: − not answering or returning calls or emails − not responding to requests for goods and services." (p52, Q1 Sector Performance Report) The Sector Performance Report is a one way for aged care organisations to measure their performance against other's in the sector. In a risk-based compliance environment, organisations want to ensure that they meet or exceed the industry standard. Checked In Care hosted a webinar at the end of last year that discussed how #homecare providers can proactively look to make changes that will help minimise complaints, like those highlighted in the report. Send us a message if you would like access to the recording and slides! #agedcare #compliance #quality

📊 Sector Performance Report – Q1, July–September 2024 released. Our latest Sector Performance Report is now available on our website 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gTw2BK2z   We strongly encourage providers to review this report as part of their commitment to continuous improvement. 🧐 It is most useful when providers compare the data with their own and act on it.  The Commission uses the data to target its regulatory activities to areas of greatest risk.    82% of residential services were found compliant with the Aged Care Quality Standards. This means that nearly 1 in 5 residential services were less than fully compliant.      📈 In a significant jump from last quarter, 73% of home services providers were fully compliant with the Quality Standards. 1 in 4 providers fell short in some way.     📋 Notable trends in compliance and serious incidents this quarter included:  ▪️ Rates of compliance with Quality Standard 3 (Personal and Clinical Care) and 6 (Feedback and Complaints) have improved significantly in home services.  ▪️ Notifications of neglect in residential care have increased by 26% since this time last year.    🔎 In Focus: Financial and Prudential Compliance  This quarter, we focused on financial and prudential compliance and its importance in the delivery of high-quality aged care. We reviewed the sector’s management of refundable deposits, submissions of Annual Prudential Compliance Statements, and findings from home care pricing audits.    🤝 Collecting and publishing this information is part of our commitment to work with providers to ensure older Australians receive safe and quality aged care.    Read the full report for more detailed insights and our areas of regulatory focus for 2025: https://lnkd.in/gTw2BK2z   #ACQSC #AgedCare #HealthcareQuality #SectorPerformance

At Checked In Care, we see first-hand how a person-centred approach, clear benefits, and trusted support make all the difference in empowering older adults to embrace tech! #agedcare #homecare #seniorliving #retirementliving

"UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures, Professor Jason Prior said that although technology-supported care in the home is appealing to participants for enhancing safety, independence, and an ability to live at home for longer, their “acceptance of technology-supported care at home is nuanced” with varying levels of engagement and some “reservations” and cautiousness". (Source: https://lnkd.in/gYqJmPWX ) This reflects my experience with sensor technology in the home, which is the focus of the survey. It also reflects my experience with the adoption of ANY technology by older people. And most of their reservations make sense! Privacy, cost, scams... All the things we should worry about. Previous sources I've shared on LinkedIn reinforce the same message. With the right support and a person-centred approach, older people are willing to learn and use technology, and it their usage is increasing. We see evidence of this every day Checked In Care. There are retirement communities that have 100% uptake of the CIC platform among residents. With home care, almost half our the users are the person receiving care, rather than a family member. What's the secret? - The ol', 'what's in it for me?'! Make it clear what the benefits are for the person who is using the technology - Ensure you take the time to explain and demonstrate how to use the technology, and give continuing support - The product or platform must be easy to use for your audience - Beware the messenger... Look to a trusted advisor, such as an allied health provider, care worker, etc; instead of adult children. I've always had more success when the person having the conversation with the older person about the technology and teaching them how to use the technology, is someone outside the family. #homecare #digitalhealth #agedcare #innovation
