  • We had the privilege of featuring our CEO, Peter Castellas, on Season 3 of AgTech Innovators, a podcast by Agriculture Victoria, hosted by Drew Radford. During the episode, Peter delves into his journey of aligning his professional efforts with his personal commitment to combating climate change. He shares insights into how he identified areas where he could make the greatest impact and highlights the significant opportunities Victoria holds in addressing climate challenges, particularly within the agricultural sector. Some highlights: 💡 Understanding Sectoral Participation in Climate Change and Economic Activity - Entire sectors play dual roles: significant contributors to climate change and drivers of economic growth. ⚡ Personal efforts can create meaningful change by targeting areas of significant impact. - Purposeful engagement with climate issues ensures alignment with mitigation and adaptation strategies. ⚡ Points of Influence and Key Decision Makers - Understanding the ecosystem of influence is critical: Key decision-makers include policymakers, corporate leaders, and capital providers. - Ultimately it takes you to the Parliament House in terms of politicians; however all board rooms for business decisions and ultimately capital providers that sit in the investment houses are also critical to determine influence and funding priorities. ⚡ Practical Implications for Climate Action - Opportunities: New markets, innovations, and partnerships. - Investment Risks/Loss: Managing potential ESG-related losses. - Business Continuity: Strengthened resilience against climate disruptions. - Supply Chains: Enhanced sustainability throughout the value chain. ⚡ Victoria and Australia as a Microcosm of Global Trends - Victoria reflects global challenges, such as carbon emissions and land-use demands, particularly in agriculture. - Integrating sustainability into the agri-value chain is crucial for balancing productivity and environmental goals. ⚡ Unique Opportunities in Victoria Victoria's strengths include: - A robust history of R&D, innovation, and adaptation. - Successful pilot projects that enhance resilience and productivity. - Collaboration between government, industry, finance, and innovation sectors. • We are honoured and privileged to announce that the keynote Gala Dinner speaker at the 3rd annual Climate Investor Forum will be...    H.E. Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan A renowned global advocate for environmental leadership, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay leads a country that has pursued a development path grounded in the philosophy of Gross National Happiness. The happiness and well-being of the people of Bhutan are at the centre of the development agenda as the country balances economic growth, social equity, and environmental sustainability.   Bhutan faces its challenges and is a country at the very front line of climate change, vulnerable to the impacts of the Himalayan glacial melt. Even in the face of this existential threat and major economic challenges, the country is committed to lead by example and to advocate for a global response to the climate crisis and take deliberate, conscious choices to preserve their natural resources and protect climate stability.   At COP31 in Baku, the Prime Minister demonstrated this leadership by launching G-ZERO, a coalition of carbon-negative and carbon-neutral countries. He advocated for the establishment under the Paris Agreement Article 6 for a vibrant marketplace for the trade of high integrity, certified, verified, carbon credits, and he articulated how the global community can build a bridge to stronger international partnerships in the race to decarbonize the global economy.   Be part of the audience and a rare opportunity to be moved and motivated and inspired, as H.E. Tshering Tobgay outlines how Bhutan is firmly committed to spearheading the global movement toward carbon neutrality and nature-positive solutions. • The Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme’s Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings 2024 method is now available. This method will help us reach #NetZero emissions by #2050. Clearer and simpler than the 2014 version, which expired in September 2024, and includes: ☘ the ability to start site preparation and planting as soon as you submit your project application ☘the choice to harvest seeds from your project, to support more environmental plantings in your local area ☘the option to do additional planting (infill planting) to support wildlife and promote biodiversity ☘the ability to consider adding nature repair projects once these opportunities become available a relaxation of plant spacing requirements ☘the use of a single Reforestation Management Plan for all management information. Changes that followed community consultation- the Environmental Planting 2024 method enables more projects under the ACCU Scheme to store carbon.
