ELITE ATHLETE // Congratulations to Year 7 student Tanisha G, who captained her state to second place at the recent School Sport Australia U12 National Championships. Tanisha's dream came true when she was named Queensland Captain, a goal she set for herself this year. Her leadership and determination were key to the team’s sensational performance at the 5-day tournament held in Adelaide. Despite a tough loss to NSW in the opening match, the team bounced back strong, winning every other game. Tanisha was also named the best bowler of the tournament, with a standout performance against ACT: four overs, two maidens, five runs, and five wickets! In addition, Tanisha won the Sportsmanship Award for her integrity on the field, including when she withdrew an appeal against WA after a runout mistake – a true reflection of her character. We are incredibly proud of Tanisha’s achievements and the entire Qld team for their fantastic performance! #qldstateschools #Sportsmanship #CricketChampion #NationalChampionships #BestBowler

YEAR 9 // Our Year 9 students took part in a ‘Transition to 10’ day, where they experienced a day in the life of Year 10. As part of the program, they experienced: ✔️ A social transition session run by House Masters to learn skills related to managing change and making new connections. 📝 'Taster' lessons for elective subjects to learn about assessment, pedagogy and expectations in Year 10 subjects. 🌭 A sausage sizzle to celebrate the end of their Middle Years journey and the beginning of Senior school. 🎉 A certificate and copy of the Koondoo presented by Year 9 Deputy Principal Brock Germain and House Masters. Two of our Year 9 students reflected on the day stating: 📖 Layla A: "I liked having a day to experience a little bit of Year 10 and seeing how we liked the subjects we chose, and the classes/teachers. I feel like this transition day was good for us as it allowed us to settle into next year more comfortably. I believe that the taster sessions were good for us to talk to people we usually wouldn't, and to meet the teachers we might have for next year to get familiar with the environment we will be in." 🏫 Isla B: "It was great being able to be in some classes for next year and have a feel of what will go on - plus my teachers are great!" #qldstateschools #Limitless #ThrivingCulture #Year9 #SixHousesOneFamily #MiddleYears #Celebrate

Some of the highlights included riding a cable car, admiring the breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji, exploring Disney Sea, trying delicious food at Tsukiji Fish Market and visiting Josai School, our international exchange school. Some of these lucky Year 11 students shared their reflections below: ⛰️ Cailin N: "I loved going to all of the shrines and green spaces. The mountains are beautiful." 🏪 Jimmy T: "Seeing all the Japanese stores has been great. The homestay I went to was with the Aquarian family, and the host mum was energetic and keen to show me around." 🍣 Ollie K: "I loved hanging out with my host family and going to the Edo-Tokyo Museum. The food has been amazing." Thank you to Ms Thompson, Mr Kidd and Ms Jacqueline Craigie for taking such wonderful care of our students while they were abroad! #qldstateschools #Limitless #ThrivingCulture #JapanTrip #Culture
