Promoting opportunities. Protecting rights. For people 50+
About us
COTA Victoria is the leading not-for-profit organisation representing the interests and rights of people aged 50+ in Victoria. For more than 70 years in Victoria, we have led government, corporate and community thinking about the positive aspects of ageing. Today, our focus is on promoting the opportunities and protecting the rights of people 50+. We see an ageing population as a time of opportunities for personal growth, contribution and self-expression. We believe there are obvious national, state, community, family and individual benefits from this approach.

Our CEO Ben Rogers recently spoke with The Westsider Newspaper and Online about a lack of affordable housing for those older Victorians who might want to downsize. “We think it’s increasingly important for older Victorians to make sure that their options are sustainable in terms of affordability when downsizing,” Ben said. "[Renting] is a danger as you get older because it puts you in a more financially precarious position," Ben continued. "If you don’t have secure housing, you are not ageing well, and especially in growing communities in the West, we need to make sure that people are financially supported.” Read the full article -- which also includes our friends at Housing for the Aged Action Group -- below.
