Last week we were thrilled to host our AI Workshop, 'Bringing AI to Life: Co-Pilots, GenAI, and Upskilling Your Team for the Future', as part of National AI Centre's AI month. It was fantastic to see so many attendees engaging in thoughtful discussions about how AI is transforming the way we work. One of the big takeaways was the importance of navigating privacy in the workplace while embracing AI’s potential. We also explored how AI can empower more employees to engage with technology, raise skill levels across the board, and unlock exciting new opportunities for growth and innovation. The potential for AI to uplift workplace skills and drive real transformation is massive, and we hope the ideas shared sparked some inspiration for leaders driving innovation. A big thanks to our speakers: - Kade Brown & Chris Berg from RMIT Online. - Tim Hannon from Continuum Labs. - luke boyce from NVIDIA. - Bec Martin from Workato. Don’t miss our next event, “Cremorne Connect: The year that was in Australian Venture Capital” which you can join here: https://lnkd.in/gbj6xtwZ

The Heart of Innovation and Growth: Some Reflections on Tech Week When we kicked off Tech Week at the CDH, we had a sense that we were in for something special. But honestly, seeing our space come alive the way it did was beyond anything we could’ve imagined. The energy was electric—innovators, industry leaders, startups, and tech enthusiasts all mingling under one roof. In short, Tech Week really showcased the vibrant innovation ecosystem we have here in Victoria. Strolling through the hub during the week, it struck me how CDH had become more than just a venue; it felt like the heartbeat of the tech community. Everywhere I looked, people were deep in conversation—over coffee, in workshops, after panel discussions. Ideas were bouncing around, connections were being made, and you could just tell that some of these casual chats were the start of something big. What makes me particularly proud is how CDH helps our community of partners navigate the sometimes overwhelming innovation landscape. Let’s face it, this space can be complex and scattered. Whether you’re a budding entrepreneur or an established business trying to keep up with the latest trends, it can be a lot to handle. That’s why we’re so passionate about connecting the dots—linking industries, fostering collaborations, and turning great ideas into reality. Tech Week was a perfect example of this mission in action. We hosted a mix of events catering to all corners of the tech world. Startups had the chance to pitch their ideas, established companies explored new collaborations, and everyone walked away having learnt something new. The buzz was incredible, and the feedback we’ve had shows just how valuable these connections are. Reflecting on Tech Week, it reminded me why we do what we do at CDH. Innovation doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it thrives when people come together, share ideas, and collaborate. Our role is to make that happen, to create spaces where the tech community can connect and grow. I encourage you to enjoy this short video which captures the electric energy of Tech Week 2024. Here’s to keeping the momentum going, connecting more dots, and shaping the future of tech in Victoria! Day 4 of #TechWeek2024 was a bright and early one for me; moderating the University of Melbourne’s “Impact of Gen AI” breakfast, at Reece Group’s Cremorne HQ. Featuring the AI whisperer himself, Prof Eduard Hovy, Director of Melbourne Connect and former Program Manager at DARPA’s Information Innovation Office. Last week was Melbournes Tech Week at the Cremorne Digital Hub and I met some brilliantly intelligent people; thought leaders (real ones!), entrepeneurs and business leaders, all sharing their experiences, frameworks and insight into the future of the tech; how, in a very real way, it will impact how we work and live. Setting the scene, we acknowledged the rate of change is faster than ever and so too is the speed of adoption of new technology. In general people are embracing new tech far faster than they used to; ChatGPTs first week saw 1 million users. Within 8 weeks it was 100 million. But this enthusiasm doesn't yet reflect mainstream organisational adoption or readiness for the real and potential impact of AI at work. While we're now in a time of evolving AI Agents that can plan and execute workflows, the future looks decidely more integrated; AI will discover new knowledge and aid innovation, perhaps one day undertaking work of an entire organisation.... I won't attempt to predict what that means for the future of work, at least not for a few years (months? 🤨 ) But I took heart in the reassurance that AI won't rule the world. That and several case studies of how humans that worked with AI provided greater customer service, more accurate and empathic medical advice, as well as more novel, exciting and effective science ideas, than either on their own. Peering into the near future Gartner's HR Leaders Priorities 2025 report highights CEO's prioritisation of growth through technological transformation and already Chief People Officers already begining to experience the realities AI deployment; data security issues, uncertainity around best practice and employee skills gaps, to name a few. It's clear that significant investment in communication, education and upskilling, as well as careful governance providing a safe space for experimentation and innovation, is needed to set up employees and businesses to acheive strategic goals. What this flags for me is the critical need for organisations to get serious about the business of transformation, specificially change management. Now. I don't know of any company that can continue to afford to poorly deliver change; to leave employees behind or disengaged. Transformation is entirely dependant on successful change management; when employees embrace and adopt the new. And nothing is more transformative that this tech. On a personal note, I was thrilled to met a Pepper! 🤩 Thank you Stef Cola, Simon Kinsella, Rahil Garnavi, PhD. Gavin Phuah Borhan Kazimipour Stefan Harrer, PhD and many more.
