'Twas the day before shutdown, and all through the place, the staff were still working at a brisk, steady pace. The emails were answered with diligent care, in hopes that vacation soon would be there. The keyboards were silent, no clatter, no clicks, the team had wrapped projects with neat little tricks. The coffee machine gave its final soft sigh, as workers packed bags and waved their goodbyes. With clarity guiding the work we’d achieved, we reflected on progress and truly believed: "Take a break, take a breath, enjoy the long days, recharge your spirit in your own special ways!" For this is the place where we grow and we strive, where values like these keep the spirit alive. The best place to work, it’s clear to us all - a team that’s united will never fall. And as we departed, the thought brought a cheer, of coming together again in the new year. Refreshed, renewed, with stories to tell, and ready once more to work and excel. 🎄Happy Holidays 🎄

🌟 We love celebrating incredible talent! 🌟 The Institute of Public Administration Australia WA (IPAA WA) Awards were held yesterday and our Finance colleagues took home some trophies. 🎉 Big congratulations to Nikita Prescott! 🏆 Winner of Young Achiever of the Year for her exceptional personal leadership, unwavering integrity, #empathy and dedication to service. Starting her journey as a school-based trainee at just 16, Nikita has grown into an inspiring public servant, consistently going above and beyond to deliver results for the community. 🙌 In her current role, she provides high-level executive support to our Director General while navigating a fast-paced, complex environment with grace and excellence. 💼✨ Nikita truly embodies the spirit of public service, lives our values of #empathy, #growth, #collaboration and #clarity, and we’re so proud to celebrate her achievements! 🎉👏 🎉 Big congratulations to our Building and Contracts Team who along with Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Department of Communities WA and Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries who won Best Practice in Collaboration Across Government Agencies for the Kimberley Flood Community Social Recovery Package. The team worked tirelessly with our colleagues in other agencies, local shires - Shire of Derby/West Kimberley, community leaders, and local businesses to help restore essential services and repair critical infrastructure, following the devastating impacts of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie in early 2023. Key achievements included: 🏠 Supporting the establishment of temporary accommodation in and around Fitzroy Crossing to help people remain in, and return to, their homes. 🔧 Facilitating commercial agreements with local businesses to provide workers’ accommodation to support broader recovery efforts. 🌉 Undertaking repairs, refurbishment and clean up works on housing and schools in multiple communities. This is a shining example of collaboration and innovation in action. Well done, team! 👏👏

🚨🌱 Protecting our future: New State Biosecurity Response Centre 🌱🚨 Check out the new $97.3 million State Biosecurity Response Centre located in the Canning Vale industrial area. This state-of-the-art facility is the headquarters for Western Australia's crucial biosecurity operations. 🔍 Key features include: 🏢 Modern facilities for our scientists and biosecurity staff. 🧑🔬 Accommodation for between 200-300 staff when fully operational. 📦 6,000sqm of warehousing, a large hardstand area for new modular laboratory buildings and car parking. Finance celebrated the 2024 International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) on 3 December.🌟 With our colleagues at Department of Training and Workforce Development, we marked this important day with engaging activities that allowed us to connect and reflect. 🤍   Supporting this year’s IDPwD theme, ‘Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future’, our celebration included many activities designed to promote awareness and education to progress access and inclusion, and tips to assist accommodations and engagement in the workplace.   We’re proud to support initiatives that foster inclusion and ensure that people of all abilities can thrive.
