Now this is useful! 🌟 My PhD student, Jonathan Glenning, has just published an important study in Archives of Disease in Childhood on the feasibility of home #bloodpressure (BP) screening in children. I’m absolutely thrilled to see this work come to fruition—it’s a testament to Jonathan’s dedication, and I couldn’t be prouder as his supervisor! As always, here are my key takeaways: 📊 Home BP works! – BP measurements taken at home were comparable to clinic readings, reinforcing home monitoring as a reliable alternative. 👨👩👧 Families love it! – 73% of parents preferred home BP screening over clinic visits, reducing stress and improving accessibility for children 📮 They returned the machines – there was a lot of concern at the planning stage that we'd lend out the machines and never see them again, this turned out not to be an issue. 🚑 Telehealth potential unlocked! – Combining home BP with virtual consultations could transform paediatric care, cutting costs and hospital visits while ensuring accurate monitoring. This study is a game-changer for paediatric hypertension management and a shining example of research that directly improves patient care.
