🏃Ready, Set… Go check out the upgrades at the ‘Red Track’ at the Townsville Sports Precinct! ⏱️The upgraded ‘Red Track” and field has World Athletics Certification Class 2, meaning athletes’ times and records at the venue can be officially recorded. 🥇The upgrades will help talented athletes from across North Queensland pursue their Olympic dreams in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032 Games. 🥏The upgrades also allow the Queensland Government owned and operated Sports Precinct to host state, national and international athletics and training camps. 🙌That’s a win in our books! Thanks to Jake Doran, Olivia Ford and Uwezo Lubenda who helped put the track to the test! 🏃 Jake, who has represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games and World Championships, was absolutely thrilled with the new track. “To have this quality track in Townsville is fantastic for me and for the top-class juniors the region is producing right now,” he said. We’ve partnered with International Legends of League (ILOL) to bring rugby league events to regional Queensland, promoting the game of rugby league and communicating key health messages. Our team attended the first event in Goondiwindi, which included school visits, media appearances and a match between the Australian Legends and local Allstars. Despite the heat, 1,200 spectators enjoyed four exciting games. 🔥🏉 Looking forward to more events in 2025, including Kingaroy, Stanthorpe/Warwick, and a return visit to Goondiwindi. #QldSportAndRec #RugbyLeague

For Queenslanders living with an invisible disability, the bright lights, loud noises and crowds at live football matches can be some of the biggest barriers stopping them from attending live sport 🗣️🏉 That’s why the Hawthorn Football Club set up a sensory space during their recent AFLW game at Cazalys Stadium in Cairns. The sensory space meant an extra 20 Queenslanders could come and enjoy watching a live AFL game! We love supporting programs that help Queenslanders of all abilities get involved in sport. 👏 Read more about the Hawks Inclusion Project helping more AFL fans enjoy the sport 👉 https://bit.ly/3V8mwJx Queensland Mental Health Commission #Qldsportandrec #aflw
