Last Friday, I had the honor of co-presenting on the Landscape of Commercial Property Investment alongside Tanson Tian, Ivan Li, CFA, FRM, Paul Wong from NAB Private and Bruce Wang from Rethink Investing. The event was both insightful and engaging, providing valuable guidance to our high-net-worth clients as they navigate the commercial property market in the current economic climate and interest rate environment. We also discussed the tax implications of the newly legislated Commercial and Industrial Property Tax (CIPT) in Victoria and the planning considerations. The collaboration between the teams from DFK Nugents, NAB Private, and Rethink Investing has brought significant value to our mutual clients, and have demonstrated our capabilities in this space. The withholding tax rate for the capital gains tax regime for non-residents is proposed to increase from 12.5 per cent to 15 per cent and the $750,000 property value threshold is proposed to be removed and reduced to nil. The proposed changes, if enacted, will apply to CGT events occurring from the later of 1 January 2025 and the commencement date of the amending Bill. You can read more here: https://lnkd.in/gPkEFEeW
