Downer is proud to announce it’s an authorised agent for SKF Group, adding value for our freight customers. Today, at AusRail 2024 key representatives from Downer and SKF signed a partnership agreement authorising Downer to be an authorised agent for overhaul, inspections and requalification for the SKF product range for New South Wales. This partnership provides significant value to the customer with Downer able to complete this work from our Cardiff Rail Facility located in the heart of the Hunter Region. Working together to build the next generation 🛠️ 🧰 👷♂️ 👷♀️ The Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities and Downer cadetship programme has officially wrapped up for another year. This year, 54 students from schools across Auckland, New Zealand gained hands-on experience in trades from carpentry to plumbing, working with expert contractors on Kāinga Ora homes. 🛠️ We feel incredibly privileged to work with our customer to give a head start to secondary students considering a career in trades 👏. #KāingaOra #BuildingSkills #HandsOnLearning #EnablingCommunitiestoThrive

Award winning delivery! Congratulations to our Water team on winning the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (Queensland and Northern Territory) Excellence Awards in the $5 million - $10 million project category earlier this month. To help cater for current and future growth in the Ipswich area, Urban Utilities, Downer and WSP in Australia (DOWSP) delivered a new major pump station on a vacant Urban Utilities site near Mount Juillerat Drive and School Road in Redbank Plains. The pump station was completed in March 2024 and supplies water to Redbank Plains, the Ripley Valley, the Swanbank industrial area and beverage giant Frucor Suntory’s new manufacturing facility in Redbank Plains, which also opened its doors in 2024. A key feature of the project was the team’s approach to ensuring that the community was at the forefront of its planning, with bespoke engagement and consultation tools developed to support the culturally diverse local residents living directly adjacent to the construction. The result? The delivery of a once-in-a-generation critical infrastructure project in partnership with the community that will enhance water service reliability for residents, businesses and industry in the Ipswich area now and into the future. A special thank you to IPWEA Queensland & Northern Territory (IPWEA-QNT) for this recognition and to everyone involved for your contribution towards the successful delivery on the project.
