Bio-based coatings for a circular world.
About us
We help companies within the paper industry–and their customers–who want to move to circular models of production. We’ve listened to our customers to learn what properties they need in their coatings. And we’ve created these using 100% bio-based ingredients. We’ve made them easy to apply using existing equipment. So there’s no need to invest in expensive new systems. Because we want to help as many companies as possible join the circular economy. Our customers are: - Paper manufacturers - Paper coaters - Packaging companies - Consumer brands who are embracing a circular future. Get in touch to learn more about our products and how we can help you transition to circular systems.

We're pleased to report we have undertaken a Repulpability Assessment and achieved 99.7% Recyclable Percentage for Biobarc™ Slide, our bio-based barrier coating for paper packaging. The testing was performed according to the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) Method. A minimal amount of material remained as rejects on the screen after fractionation. Thank you to Alex Harvey and the team at Lab LaunchPad. We're proud to be part of the movement towards 100% circularity in paper packaging. #circularity #APCO #biobased #recyclable #coatings #packaging #paper

So pleased to hear the fantastic news of Tenacious Ventures closing their next Fund! The Tenacious team (Sarah Nolet, J. Matthew Pryor and Vela Georgiev) co-led our pre-seed round and have been nothing but amazing & supportive in helping Earthodic grow over the past 18 months.
My heart was pounding all morning knowing this news would go live. But I was struggling to figure out why. Was I nervous that the angle would be somehow negative? Was I afraid that our transparency in sharing our fundraising "out loud" would be twisted against us? Was I just excited? I tried to meditate. To journal. But I couldn't figure it out. Then it hit me. I didn't want to celebrate. Sure, hitting first close, especially in current conditions, is huge. I'm proud of this milestone. I'm thrilled to be welcoming so many new and returning investors to Fund II. And I'm super excited about what it means for our mission at Tenacious. My hands were shaking because celebrating feels inauthentic when we have so much more work to do. Not just more money to raise ("always be raising!" is just a fact) or more to prove. More IMPACT to be had. More companies solving climate challenges in agri-food to fund and support. With this framing clear in my head, and the mission front and center, I could ask myself: well, what would feel authentic? That's easy! It feels good, fantastic even, to celebrate the impact we've already helped to catalyze. RapidAIM Pty Ltd launching game-changing products to optimize pesticide use, and deploying on farms in several countries with some of the biggest players in their space. GOTERRA proving out their first-in-the-world model and vision - again and again - with new partners like the City of Sydney and Skretting. SwarmFarm Robotics bots farming over 4 million acres fully autonomously and sending their first robot to the US. Cutting input costs and improving farmer's lives. Jupiter Ionics announcing world-leading scientific breakthroughs in green ammonia, championing a new future for green fertilizer. We don't just back software companies. We don't just back men. We never compromise on impact or commercial ambition. The sacrifices these teams have made to bring their visions to life - not just on paper where valuations are calculated but in the lab, on the field, in the shed... in the real world! - is what I want to celebrate. Systems-change is never linear, never easy, never without cost. But it's what we urgently need to combat the multi-billion dollar realities facing our agri-food system. And more challenges are coming. It's going to get harder, more complex. We couldn't back these companies without the support of our investors. So, here's to first close. Here's to being Tenacious and backing Tenacious founders. And let's keep building. https://lnkd.in/gmWsJR_H Tenacious Ventures J. Matthew Pryor Vela Georgiev Simon Uzcilas

Sustainable solutions for packaging means looking beyond the obvious "problematic materials" and seeking to deliver cleaner solutions for cross sectoral packaging formats. Whilst we actively work towards designs that will support recyclability, we should also be deep diving into our existing supply chains and explore what could be a sustainable alternative or remodeled to be both sustainable and circular. Charles Sturt - AgriPark's Packaging Innovation Challenge enabled Earthodic, an Australian based start-up, to showcase their innovative solution for a bio-based waterproof cardboard coating using lignan which is a by-product from wood pulp. Congratulations Earthodic on being awarded runners up! A great example of a circular, sustainable solution that redirects a waste stream into a feedstock to create a new coating application. Congratulations also to the joint winners, Packamama, flat PET wine bottles and Pack2Earth for their innovative bio-resin. Let's be honest a nice wine always compliments a good Australian beef steak. Cheers Alex Adda. Well done. Thank you Charles Sturt University (Nick Pagett) and The Growth Drivers (Nick Sabulis & David Ireland) for the opportunity to support your launch of a new inaugural event, and to be a curator and judge alongside Anna Grocholsky Jay Jayeshwaran Adam Culley Mark Bourne Sandra Dal Maso. Well done on a successful event. It's National Biobased Products Day. Biobarc™, our water-resistant coating, is 100% bio-based and contains the second most abundant biopolymer: lignin. Our lignin is sourced from a byproduct of the pulp and paper industry. We are proud to be part of the bioeconomy and to be recognised by the USDA BioPreferred program. This program tested that the carbon contained in our coating comes from renewable resources–and not from petroleum or fossil-derived sources. #CommitToSwitch #NBPD #Bioeconomy #CelebrateBiobased #BiobasedProductsDay #papertarian #lignin #circularity #coating #recyclable
