Today is #EconomicAbuseAwareness Day, and this year’s theme is 'There’s no excuse for economic abuse'. Economic abuse is a common form of intimate partner violence impacting 16% of women and 7% of men. The consequences of economic abuse are devastating and can be long lasting for victim survivors. Ecstra Foundation provides multi year funding to support front line organisations working to address economic abuse including the Centre for Women's Economic Safety, Redfern Legal Centre, Westjustice, Economic Abuse Reference Group (EARG), and the @UNSW Tax & Business Advisory Clinic. We welcome recent commitments to address economic abuse, including the Parliamentary Joint Committee Inquiry, however continued and sustainable funding from government and philanthropy is required to effectively address the causes and impact of economic abuse. A directory of services to support people experiencing economic abuse is available here: https://lnkd.in/gG2ieni8 For organisations thinking about how to address economic abuse see Centre for Women's Economic Safety’s Guide here:https://lnkd.in/eYqd_262 #EconomicAbuseAwareness #IEAAD24 #NoExcuseforEconomicAbuse
