My Reflections and learnings from the Australian Tutoring Association (ATA) National Conference 2024 organised around the theme of Evidence informed practice…best practice, and alternative practice. 1. To stay ahead in the evolving education landscape, it's crucial to stay informed about technological advancements and legal regulations. This includes understanding the potential of AI in education, such as personalised learning, automated tasks, and data-driven insights and understanding copyright issues regarding AI generated content. By embracing these changes responsibly, tutoring businesses can enhance their services, improve student outcomes, and maintain a competitive edge 2. While online testing offers scalability and innovation, it requires careful consideration of accessibility, pedagogy, and infrastructure to complement traditional assessment methods effectively. Balancing both formats may yield the best results for students and businesses alike. 3. Tutoring businesses can achieve sustained success by fostering a sense of belonging and emphasising values. This approach goes beyond traditional tutoring, offering long-term personal and academic growth for students. Thank you to all the speakers for their insightful talks Thank you Mohan Dhall for organising such an inspiring event in Australia.

We asked a handful of business leaders to break down the myths they’ve encountered (like the idea that rapid scaling is essential), and reveal what truly drives their success. Thank you, Alicia Gonzalez (Founder, Head Coach & Fun Advocate at The Clown Institute ), Dr Indramohan Singh, PhD (Director at Eduprism Learning), Virginia Lawton (Creative Content Writer at The Virginia Lawton Freelance @ Performing Arts), Dr Shainal Nathoo (CEO at Outcome Health ), Jess Metzler (Head of Operations at Grant Help), Nick Panagiotou (Director of Sales and Marketing at Salon Cosmetics Australia).

Dear Tutoring Providers and Parents: Safety, security, and compliance are simply non-negotiable when it comes to tutoring. Pencil Spaces offers the world’s safest, most secure and compliant platform, purpose-built to protect both tutors and students. Compliance with GDPR, ISO, COPPA, FERPA, SOC2, and even HIPAA comes standard. In addition, we offer tutoring providers the flexibility to choose which safety features to activate for their needs. Our platform’s robust strength and sophistication set the bar for excellence in the tutoring industry. Pencil Spaces offers all this while also being the most complete and most engaging platform in the world. Choosing platforms that don't prioritize safety is simply irresponsible. After all, business meeting tools aren't designed for professional and safe tutoring; using them poses risks that should not be taken. In light of the alarming BBC News articles (listed below) highlighting serious incidents involving tutors, we urge you to prioritize safeguarding even more. The safety of our children is paramount and should never be compromised. With Pencil Spaces, safeguarding is easy and accessible for all participants. We don’t just meet safety requirements; we help you be proactive in ensuring everyone's safety. Legislation and requirements are often reactive, but with our platform, you can stay ahead and sleep soundly. Our extensive safeguards and compliance measures ensure the highest level of protection for both tutors and students. From comprehensive security protocols to advanced compliance certifications, Pencil Spaces leaves no room for compromise on security. In the comments below, we’re sharing 50 reasons why Pencil Spaces is the world’s safest tutoring platform. Each reason will be posted individually. Check if your platform meets these standards or not. Looking to explore safety and compliance in more detail? Join us for our Safeguarding Workshop this Monday, October 7, 2024, at 8am UK time or 5pm UK time (9am PST, 12pm EST) for a deep dive into how we can help you stay safe and compliant. Please RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/grEyN29a Meanwhile, please also feel free to engage with us directly for any questions or clarifications in the comments below. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Daniel Tay in Singapore. During our conversations, Daniel's passion for teaching science truly stood out. His dedication to making complex scientific concepts accessible and exciting for primary school kids was inspiring. We even tried to simplify a physics problem to a specific level of students. In an era where STEM education is more important than ever, educators like him are shaping the future by nurturing young learners' creativity and critical thinking. Grateful for this meeting and the inspiration it brought.

Why did I decide to run Online "Face to Face" classes only? Yes, online classes are also "Face to Face classes" as face to face means "within each other's sight or presence" (Merriam Webster Dictionary) So what I think of online face to face classes? I want to provide full flexibility to students and their parents. I feel for parents when they are struggling with their own work commitments (long work days) and then traveling with their children to take them to different tutoring centres. I feel for students when they start another "informal school" (Tutoring centre) after a long day at their school instead of staying in the cozy home environment. So what are the advantages of an online class? 1. Students can attend classes from home, eliminating the need for travel. This often leads to less stress and more time for study. 2. Online platforms provide easy access to learning materials and recorded sessions and students often have the option to review materials and recordings at their own pace, allowing for deeper understanding. 3. Online formats can make it easier for students to ask questions privately in breakout rooms or in private chat, which they might feel hesitant to do in a physical classroom. 4. Online classes offer parents the comfort of knowing their child is learning in a safe home environment without the need to commute or attend in-person sessions. 5. Parents can more easily monitor their child’s classroom environment since it's taking place at home and can also sit with their child (without disrupting the class) to get an understanding of the teacher's expertise and also the learning pace. 6. With no travel involved, families have more control over their daily schedules, which can ease the pressure of managing multiple activities or appointments, because travel can be sometimes unpredictable. All experts (both online and face to face tutoring) out there, I would like to hear your opinion on this to broaden my understanding on this matter. Am I missing something?
