EBC’s Wealth Management & FinTech lead, Christopher Poh, shared his outlook on Greater China’s hiring trends with Citywire Asia. Christopher shared that private banks are expected to continue selective hiring following major RM movements, particularly in the wake of the UBS-Credit Suisse merger and Citi Private Bank’s restructuring. While most high-demand bankers have already transitioned, further movements are anticipated after the 2025 bonus season. Although open product roles remain limited, Christopher foresees a rebound in hiring for investments and advisory teams to support expanding RM and client headcounts. Discretionary and fund hiring, spanning both public and private markets, will likely gain momentum in 2025. Gone are the days when technical expertise and financial acumen alone could propel executives to the C-suite. The leadership playbook is being rewritten as Australian businesses navigate unprecedented market shifts, from emerging AI integration to evolving workplace dynamics. Today's successful executives must master the art of "adaptive resilience" – the ability to weather change and harness it as a catalyst for innovation. We see this particularly in sectors like mining, technology, and financial services, where Australian companies lead the charge in sustainable transformation. Three key leadership capabilities are emerging as non-negotiable: Digital Intelligence: Beyond basic tech literacy, executives need to understand the strategic implications of AI, blockchain, and quantum computing in their industries. It's about asking the right questions and making informed decisions in a tech-driven landscape. Cultural Orchestration: With hybrid work here to stay, leaders must excel at building cohesive teams across physical and virtual spaces. Maintaining a strong corporate culture while embracing flexibility is crucial in our competitive talent market. Sustainable Business Acumen: Australian executives must balance profit with purpose, particularly as our region faces climate challenges and changing stakeholder expectations. The most successful leaders we're placing aren't necessarily the most technically brilliant – they're the ones who can read the wind and adjust their sails when they sense challenges, bringing their teams along for the journey. What leadership skills do you see becoming critical in your industry? Let us know in the comments. #BeExceptional #ExecutiveRecruitment #ExecutiveLeadership #AustralianBusiness #FutureOfWork #Leadership2025 #Australia2025

In a recent The Straits Times article, EBC Asia's CEO, Richard Bradshaw, shared his insights on the 2025 Singapore Budget and its focus on expanding opportunities for Singaporean leaders abroad. Richard emphasised the importance of tiered support to encourage talent to explore emerging markets, highlighting the unique challenges of filling roles in countries like Papua New Guinea and Nepal, where even generous financial incentives struggle to offset concerns over safety and quality of life. He also raised a thoughtful point: could local reskilling initiatives unintentionally reduce Singaporeans' motivation for global exposure if faster career progression is readily available at home?
