Mayor Mathew Hatcher is raising his glass to the test results showing Eurobodalla’s drinking water is clear of harmful per-and-poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Often called 'forever chemicals,' PFAS exist in various forms and, at high concentrations, may pose potential health risks, including elevated cholesterol, hormonal disruption, and cancer. In August, news broke that several locations around Sydney were shown to have elevated levels of the contaminants. Following the media furore, the NSW Government offered one-off water-supply testing to regional councils, with Mayor Hatcher confirming Eurobodalla opted-in for the free testing. “Our water supply had not been tested previously, so we had both the northern and southern sections of our water supply system checked. I am happy to report our drinking water has tested clear of PFAS,” he says. #watersupply #pfas #drinkingwater

The shire's water is flowing to Nelligen residents for the first time in history! After five years of planning and construction, Eurobodalla Council has connected the village's 160 properties to the shire’s drinking water and sewerage systems. “The sewerage scheme is a win for the environment and public health, and the water supply has added security during bushfires and drought,” said Council’s project engineer Billy Alves. For connection to the shire’s water supply, a new booster pump station and two 880 kilolitre water reservoirs were built, along with the installation of 15 kilometres of piping. Connection to Batemans Bay’s Sewerage System involved building a new sewage pump station and installing 17 kilometres of piping. A huge thanks must go to the residents of Nelligen as well as our contractors Leed Engineering and Construction and Ledonne Constructions. #engineering #construction #watersupply #sewerage

We won't claim Andy's fame, but we just couldn't resist sharing the exciting news about our new starter's award! Andrea (Andy) Dobson has been recognised for her leadership in the 2024 National Airport Industry Awards 👏👏 Andy recently joined us at the Moruya Airport as the Airport Coordinator to oversee the airport ground operations and schedule maintenance works. She has over 10 years of experience as an airport security screener prior to her role as an airport reporting officer in Kununurra, WA. She is keen to expand her skills and take on more responsibility which was recognised by her peers in Kununurra who nominated her for the Emerging Airport Leader Award. Andy's enthusiasm and commitment has shown through already in the few weeks she has been with us. Andy has moved to Moruya to further her career in airport operations and is actively looking for long-term accommodation so she can be joined by her husband Craig and daughter Peta. Moruya Airport offers a lot of new challenges for Andy with functions she hasn't handled before including fuel management, freight operations and tarmac works, requiring lots of study and on-the-job training. We're stoked to have Andy onboard 😀 #2024NationalAirportIndustryAwards #AviationCareer #AirportOperations

We trialed a new 4X4 driving course last week with Tocal College. Our environment team is often out and about, accessing remote parts of our shire. Off-road skills come in handy for the team during biosecurity inspections, weed control programs, environmental monitoring, annual inspections and illegal activity investigations. Trainer David Kelly, took staff to some tricky tracks. They learned how to navigate and safely operate a 4WD while minimising environmental impacts. They also got the winch out and ran through recovery scenarios. Staff absolutely loved it! As you can see from the smiles 😁 #OffRoadDriving #VehicleSafety #EnvironmentalMonitoring #StaffTraining #VehicleOperations #SafetyTraining
