Global investment in clean technology manufacturing surged by 50% in 2023 to USD$235 billion, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). Majority of this investment was directed towards solar PV and battery manufacturing. Perovskite solar cells are projected to revolutionise solar energy due to their greater efficiency compared to conventional silicon panels, according to a recent article from the The Economist. This renewable energy source is a rapidly growing market, with solar panels already generating approximately 6% of global production. New research delivered by Ramboll to Climate Week NYC last month revealed increasing global demand for environmentally sustainable construction materials. Their survey of almost 260 companies from 41 countries found 40 per cent of respondents would pay more for concrete with 49 per cent or higher emissions reductions.
