Meet some heroes of ours! Kirby and Matt have a pretty full on job working as paediatric nurses at The Royal Children's Hospital… and in their spare time, they volunteer at Foodbank! We couldn’t believe when we heard Kirby and Matt wanted to come and volunteer at Foodbank in between their shifts at the hospital. These two work incredibly hard when they’re here and are probably two of the nicest people you could meet. We don’t have favourites, but if we did, these two would be up there! Thanks Kirby and Matt for all that you do, not only for us, but for all the children and their families that have to use the RCH. 💜

About us
Foodbank Victoria is an independent not-for-profit organisation with almost 90 years’ experience providing food relief. We are the largest provider of food relief in Victoria, including in times of disaster as part of the State Relief and Recovery Team. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation and pay our respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging. Our vision is healthy food for all Victorians, yet 1 in 5 people – including children – go hungry each year. To ensure we can reach as many people as possible, we work with food donors across the supply chain to source edible food from farmers, manufacturers and retailers. This often includes product that is out of specification, close to its best-before date, has incorrect labelling or damaged packaging, as well as excess stock and discontinued products. Without Foodbank, much of this food would simply go to landfill. Unfortunately, donations of food don’t always meet demand. In an innovative approach to fighting hunger, we work with some of Australia’s leading food manufacturers to secure a sustainable supply of essential items for our Key Staples Program. We also run programs in Victoria to target particular vulnerable groups, such as our School Breakfast Clubs, Farms to Families pop-up markets, and Essential Pantry Program. In 2017/18, we were able to distribute 8.4 million kilograms of staple, fresh and frozen foods, personal hygiene items and household products. This volume is the equivalent of putting 15 million meals on tables for people in need. We continue to work with more than 450 charity partners around the state to feed more than 116,000 people a month — nearly one-third of whom are children. If your organisation can support our work, please get in touch.

Anyone else feeling stressed? We know it’s a pretty stressful time of the year for so many people, but it helps knowing that we have you by our side. If there is a chance you are in a position to give, you’ll help us get food to those that need it more than ever. If not, we totally get it, it’s tough for so many. Anyway, link below if you possibly can…💜 https://lnkd.in/g_ZG29pF

Drumroll please…. Just wanted to announce that this team of legends from Melbourne Airport made the biggest impact in one day in 2024… they packed 44,522 meals. It’s obviously not a competition, but if you and your team are keen to give this number a nudge in 2025, then head to our website for further information https://lnkd.in/g3yPBWs

We are family 🎶 From tubs of yogurt to hands-on help, Chobani Australia has been there for us all year. They’ve donated, volunteered, and gone above and beyond to support food relief for Victorians doing it tough. It’s partnerships like these that make feeding 69,000 people a day possible. Thank you, Chobani for being such a big part of our family. 💜

It's always hard to ask for help...whether it's someone coming to ask us for food or us reaching out to the community to say we need help feeding our fellow Victorians that are doing it tough right now. This Christmas we have been asking people to help create a seat at the table for the 69,000 people we are feeding each day. It costs as little as $10 to help make a difference. The following companies have created their own tables and reached out to their networks to help us, and we are more than appreciative, so thank you for all that you have done so far. It's not too late to get onboard, you can still create a table or just donate what you can to ours, so that we can make a difference this Christmas. AusNet really brought it in 2024! 135 volunteers worked 658 volunteer hours, and packed 209,076 meals. They also donated an electric van for us to use at our Morwell Community Food Centre. This is an extraordinary partnership and we are grateful for all they have done for Foodbank this year. Thank you AUSNET. 💜💜💜

Foodbank Victoria reposted this
For today only, every $10 seat donated to my Virtual Christmas Table will be doubled to create 2 seats (or $20) which means we can distribute double the amount of food out to double the number of Victorians in time for Christmas. Every single donation up to the value of $100 will be doubled thanks to our generous friends at William Angliss Charitable Fund who are matching up to $25,000. The difference your donation can make today will be extra special to families across the state who are doing it tougher than ever in the lead up to Christmas. Thank you for always showing up for Victorians when they need us most. https://lnkd.in/gpYjcRE5

It's a wonderful thing to meet the brilliant corporate groups that come through our doors to volunteer their precious time. Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) is one of the lovely groups we've met recently. They worked hard, and smiled hard and packed 16,718 meals. We rely on teams like AGIG to get the job done. (the job is feeding 69,000 people a day!) Thanks team!
