  • 🌟 Speaker Spotlight: Thomas Emerson MLA Thomas Emerson MLA, Leader of the Independents for Canberra, committed to advancing the proposal of a Future Generations Commissioner for the ACT After spending two years working as an adviser to Senator Pocock, Thomas launched Independents for Canberra (IFC) in a bid to bring the independent movement to the ACT Legislative Assembly. Thomas led a group of 20 independent candidates running in the 2024 ACT Election under the IFC banner. Among the group's shared policy commitments was making the ACT the first jurisdiction in Australia to introduce a Future Generations Act. On 19 October 2024, Thomas was among two independents elected as a Member of the ACT Legislative Assembly, breaking a quarter-century draught for independents in ACT politics.   • 🌟 Speaker Spotlight: Dr Khanh VyHoang, Assistant Secretary from Treasury who led the development of Measuring What Matters Dr Khanh Hoang is the Assistant Secretary in the Social Policy Division at Treasury, where she led the development of the Government’s first Measuring What Matters framework in 2023. Before joining Treasury, Khanh held various roles focused on the measurement of key economic indicators at the Australian Bureau of Statistics. She has tertiary qualifications in finance, economics, and actuarial studies, including a PhD from the Australian National University.
