Our ever-growing team came together in Naarm (Melbourne) last week for an inspiring, educational and fun-filled team day. We spent the session collaborating on project activities, sharing ideas and discussing organisational values. ✍💡 Team members travelled from overseas, around Australia and from many regions in Victoria to enjoy some face-to-face time together. The session served to remind us of how fortunate we are to work with talented and passionate individuals. 🥰 👏A big thank you to everyone for your energy, enthusiasm and commitment. We look forward to progressing project activities as we work towards the goal of harnessing the power of offshore wind together. 🌊 🌬 Rory Van Weerdenburg Anita Murphy Ed Boucaut Tim Senti Peter Dodd Janelle Murray Daniel Cotterill Giulio Pinzone Ingrid Huitema Jenelle Cramer Maria Scarlett Jacob Jonker Matt Dick

Harnessing the power of offshore wind together.
About us
Gippsland Skies Offshore Wind is a proposed 2.5 gigawatt project to be developed approximately 30 kilometres off the south coast of Gippsland, Victoria. The project will deliver clean energy, create green jobs and provide sustainable local supplier opportunities, while helping Victoria meet its climate action targets. Gippsland Skies is being developed by a consortium of Australian and international companies with a shared mission — harnessing the power of offshore wind together. Gippsland Skies brings together considerable international offshore wind experience and knowledge of Gippsland’s regional needs and priorities through its partners Mainstream Renewable Power, Reventus Power, AGL Energy and DIRECT Infrastructure.

Last week, our Senior Advisor for Ports & Maritime, Ashley McDonald, spoke at the Ports Australia biennial conference in #Hobart. In his session, ‘Beyond the Horizon: Offshore Wind,’ chaired by Samuel McSkimming, CEO Pilbara Ports Authority, Ashley highlighted how ports can seize opportunities in the offshore wind sector. An excellent example of this is Green Port Hull in England, which transformed following investment in port facilities, now housing Siemens Gamesa’s blade manufacturing plant with 1,300 local employees. This port played a key role in delivering the Hornsea projects, including Hornsea 2, the world’s largest operational offshore wind farm. Green Port Hull exemplifies how strategic planning and public-private partnerships drive regional economic growth and port advancements. Thanks to our Chair, panellists; Malcolm (Mal) Wise AM GAICD and Marie-Alexandra HEGOT, and organizers for an outstanding event. 👏

As a proud Gold Sponsor, our Gippsland Skies team was out in full force last week #GNEC2024! And what an event it was… and a very busy week for everyone! We were delighted to contribute to several panel discussions, meet and greet stakeholders at our Gippsland Skies conference booth and talk careers with school-goers at our @GippyYouthNewEnergyJobSummit booth - enticed over by local biscuits from #bernisbikkies #traralgon! 🍪🍪 🤔Some reflections on the #offshorewind 🌬 market provided by our team Rory Van Weerdenburg Bill Mundy Ashley McDonald included: 🤝 The Opportunity! Australia stands to benefit from the decade-long learnings of mature markets, like the UK – what to do and what not to do. This encompasses all aspects of project development including how to work effectively and efficiently with all stakeholders including Government, developers, financiers – the full industry spectrum. Collaboration is critical to seize the opportunity the offshore wind market presents and develop projects in a cost-efficient and timely way. 🏗 Port Infrastructure: A strategic plan is required at a national level to provide certainty for investment in ports and local supply chain development. 👷♀️Skills & Training: Now is the time to start the groundwork to build a local, highly trained, and skilled workforce for the construction and O&M phases of our project. Regional Universities are key to getting people to study and stay in the region to support workforce capacity. We are looking forward to collaborating on initiatives such as the Skills Lab being established by TAFE Gippsland and we encourage students to consider a career in offshore wind. Our Head of Legal & Compliance, Anita Murphy also spoke at the #GippslandWomeninNewEnergy breakfast proudly sponsored by #GippslandSkies about her career journey in discovering her love of working in the renewable energy industry. Anita encouraged attendees to consider options and choices available to women in the new energy sector and to discover their own path to career fulfilment through mentorship and professional development training. 👉Learn more about our Gippsland Skies project here: www.gippslandskies.com.au #GippyYouthSummit #RenewableEnergy #GNEC #GNEC2024 Janelle Murray Daniel Cotterill Maria Scarlett
