Right to Disconnect The Right to disconnect came into force today across Australia. While the law is vague and can cover some subjective areas of connection, it's important to be aware of this and to treat your employees fairly. Take the following into consideration when contacting outside of normal hours: - The reason for the contact - How it was made - The level of disruption - Whether employees are paid to work additional hours - The seniority of the employee - The role of the employee - Personal circumstances In consulting, we often have two 'masters', our organisation and the client organisation. If you are feeling the level of contact is too much or is too intrusive, the first port of call should be your manager. A common sense approach to this will stand individuals and organisations in good stead.
